Tijs Michiel Verwest was born in Breda, Netherlands on January 17, 1969. He is a Dutch DJ and producer who has had many aliases in the past but we know him as DJ Tiesto, a nickname that comes from his childhood nicknames. He started playing music since 1984 and in 1994 he started producing under the pseudonym Detallo.

His interest in music began at the age of 8 and at the age of 14 he started mixing as a professional DJ at school parties between 1985 and 1994 and this established him as a resident DJ in the Netherlands.
