In my opinion, "Fake Plastic Trees" is a masterpiece, whether for its unique lyrics, message, instrumentation, or Thom's wonderful vocal work. The song deals with the lack of real meaning in people or relationships, as if it were an artificial melancholy, fake feelings, referring to a massive emotional void and the exhaustion that comes from living in a false and imitation society. The author also expresses his need to escape this loop, and as the most nostalgic point, the author concludes with the acceptance of not being able to be who they want him to be all the time. A fantastic song, very much in Radiohead's style.
