Hello everyone! Welcome back! As promised, here is a **BLUES Guitar Solo! **

So what is in the title? Well, I state 'Neck vs Bridge' so let's talk about that real quick:

  • Neck Pickup

This is the 'top' pickup on the guitar (the golden block that picks up the sound) and as you can see there are two of these on my guitar. Now, the neck pickup is called the neck as it it closer to the 'neck', or the fretboard. The neck pickup has a much warmer tone, and could be descrbied as smooth or creamy. This is often used for jazz and blues, but really is is up to the player as and when they use what

  • Bridge pickup

This is the 'bottom' pickup or the one closer to the bridge (where the strings begin). This has a much more open ans raw sound, which has more bite! You will see what I mean during this video :) now, mostly this is used for rock and metal as it can give a more aggressive tone with a higher distortion and treble tones, great for pinch harmonics! But, again, it really can be used whereever! Even in indy music, guitarists like the bridge pickup as the rhythm tone cuts through all of the frequencies.

So, now you know a little more about pickups, below are timestamps :)

00:00-01:16 Neck Pickup

01:06 - End - Bridge pickup

Which did you prefer? Can you hear a difference?

This backing track is from you YouTube channel called 'Rock on Jam Tracks' and I sure do love them! Check them out or if you would like the link let me know. However, I had noticed that shortly after my jam, the user had deleted the track. Maybe as it was old, or another issue... I have asked for permission and said if they would not like me to use it then I will rectify.

Well, enjoy everyone! More lessons and solos coming this week!:)

I think I like the Neck Pickup better, although it will depend a lot on how you comment on the genre.

Bro, I have a method of blues scales, I love the different combinations and configurations of that scale. I have to take those studies again.
I loved to improvise in Latin music.

Thank you man, and I like the neck pickup too, it sounds so warm. But if I want to crank it up, I switch to bridge!:)
