Mind = BLOWN

I am not a musician.

Not even close, but I do love music and have always been a student of it, learning about the bands and players I've enjoyed over the years.

I guess my love of music started with my dad, who was always singing along to his favorite songs on the radio when I was a kid. He'd get real excited when one of his all-time favorites would play, he'd say, "oh yeah, this one is an all-time all-time, Chris."

I dated and was married to a semi-pro cellist that also played piano and bass, her father got his doctorate in music composition from Harvard and could play any instrument he picked up (it was awesome). I also had a good friend that is a professional drummer. In high school he use to practice 4+ hours a day.

I am grateful to have these people in my life as they have exposed me to a wide range music I would not have heard otherwise, and taught me to appreciate good musicians, regardless of music genre

I say all that to say this:

The band Primus is operating on another level...

I got to see these guys perform live on Saturday night and HOLY SHIT!!. I was mesmerized. Les Claypool (founding member and bass guitar) is a virtuoso. I'm talking Jimi Hendrix level shit here.

And the other two guys in the band are not too shabby either ;)

The band is currently composed of bassist/vocalist Les Claypool, guitarist Larry "Ler" LaLonde, and drummer Tim "Herb" Alexander. This is the classic band lineup. There were some other players at the beginning but this is the lineup that spawned the classic, Sailing the Seas of Cheese album in 1991.

What I'm saying is, if you love live music and live anywhere near (or even four hours away!) from one of these cities, do not miss a chance to see these guys live.

I'm sure they already did the California dates, that's cool to hear they still have it. I don't think I've ever seen them live, I'll have to look out for the next tour.
