Three Tune Tuesday and getting on with a Helicopter Girl

Introduction

@ablaze has been doing 3 tune Tuesday for quite a while and we love the idea of it and some of the posts @stickupmusic has been doing it but I though I would join in too. it is a great way to listen to new music which is always something we want to do!

This week we are all about Helicopter girl. The scottish singer that first came out at the start of the mellenium with a sound all of her own then disapeared on her her helicpter.....

Do you think it gets better than this? This kind of repetitive 80's sounds mixed in with a kind of Blondie vibe also heavily echoing what Alison Goldfrapp was up to near the time. This is an interesting little tune effortlessly performed with production that should have more Moog and reverb. All songs should have more moog and reverb....

Ok so moving on from a kind of 80's trash pop to this weird and dark trip hop piece with its sultry moves and loops with her almost talking vocal gives you something a bit odd. the discordant and deliberately out of tune backing with a touch of jazz is definitely an interesting one. I am not sure I like it but do find it fascinating in the kind of way that you go back to an ex-girlfriend who was mean to you....but you go back anyway.

Song 3

Now "angel city" is again very different in its delivery and style and is much closer to the girl pop sound of the time in our opinion. This is much more classic, much less odd and shows that maybe, just maybe she could have been a pop sensation. Then again maybe not,, you feel she always wanted to do something more weird than any producer would want her to do.
