New Rock Band - Inception

Some time last March I got together with a bunch of other musicians and we started practicing together to form a new band. It took a little bit to get going. We had a singer who dropped out, as well as a bass player who ended up not being that interested, but we overcame those obstacles and the band Inception was formed.

Once things got going we've been pretty consistent in practicing at least once a week since March. This was a problem with my last band, Midnight Genny, because it was becoming really difficult to bring 5 people together once a week to practice. Months would go by before we would practice and it really just became a pain in the ass to keep current on the songs we play and not knowing when the next practice was going to be.

So the new band is much more consistent in practicing, and now that it's been a few months, we have nearly 4 solid sets of cover songs we are able to smash through pretty consistently.

We've played a few little gigs since we started together, but nothing major yet. A few private parties for now until we can better get the word out.

We did a bit of recording during one of our jams and got some pretty good live takes of some tunes.

Here's our version of CCR's I Put A Spell On You

All in all, it turned out pretty good for a single live take. I've got a little M-Audio 8 track DAW we hooked our mixer up to and we were able to run separate tracks for everything except the drums, which were consolidated into two tracks.

A few more months of getting the feel for everyone and we should start to venture into writing our own original tunes.

That's sounding great. You have a good singer. Frequent rehearsals really help. I did that in one band, but with the current one it's not even every month. Mind you, we just play for fun.

Rock on!
