Presentation of the artist
Johnny Clegg was a South African musician and anthropologist.
The anthropologist is the one who studies the human being under different aspects such as the social, the cultural, the philosophical-religious one and others.
Johnny Clegg was born in 1953 and died in 2019
He is credited with pioneering the attempt to create South Africa's first interracial musical formation at a time when apartheid forbade it.
In his songs there are many fragments of Zulu culture.
For his commitment Clegg obtains two important honors:
in 2015 he was awarded the title of Officer of the Order of the British Empire (United Kingdom)
in 2017 he was awarded the title of a chivalric order of South Africa, i.e. the Order of the Ikhamanga

Personal considerations
Personally I love this artist who has been able to combine the deep music of Africa with pop.
He created a multicultural pop style

Scatterlings of Africa
Scatterlings of Africa, a 1982 song, allowed Johnny Clegg to enter the UK Singles Chart for the first time. The slogan of African choirs immediately enters your head and never leaves you.

Asimbonanga
Johnny Clegg's absolute masterpiece arrives in 1987. A song dedicated to Nelson Mandela and all the struggles against apartheid. In this passage there is all his experience and that of those who saw the apartheid period in the face

Conclusions
Johnny Clegg was an artist who challenged apartheid with music, leaving an indelible mark in the history of music, the song dedicated to Mandela, or Asimbonanga.

Johnny Clegg è stato un musicista e antropologo sud africano.
L'antropologo è colui che studia l'essere umano sotto diversi aspetti come quello sociale, quello culturale, quello filosofico-religioso e altri.
Johnny Clegg nasce nel 1953 e muore nel 2019
Ad egli è attribuito l’onore di aver tentato per primo di creare la prima formazione musicale interrazziale sudafricana in un periodo in cui l'apartheid proibiva di farlo.
Nelle sue canzoni ci sono tantissimi frammenti di cultura Zulu.
Per il suo impegno Clegg ottiene due onorificenze importanti:
nel 2015 gli viene conferito il titolo di Ufficiale dell'Ordine dell'Impero Britannico (Regno Unito)
nel 2017 gli viene conferito il titolo di un ordine cavalleresco del Sudafrica, cioè dell’Ordine della Ikhamanga

Considerazioni personali
Personalmente adoro questo artista che ha saputo unire la musica profonda dell’Africa con il pop.
Ha creato uno stilo pop multiculturale
I brani che oggi vi voglio proporre sono due brani estremamente belli ed importanti.

Scatterlings of Africa
Scatterlings of Africa, un brano del 1982, ha permesso a Johnny Clegg di entrare per la prima volta nella UK Singles Chart. Lo slogan di cori africani entra immediatamente in testa e non ti lascia più.

Asimbonanga
Il capolavoro assoluto di Johnny Clegg arriva nel 1987. Un brano dedicato a Nelson Mandela e a tutte le lotte contro l'apartheid. In questo brano c’è tutto il suo vissuto e quello di chi ha visto in faccia il periodo dell’apartheid

Conclusioni
Johnny Clegg è stato un artista che ha sfidato con la musica l'apartheid lasciando un segno indelebili nella storia della musica, il brano dedicato a Mandela, ovvero Asimbonanga.
