Tweaking my Rising Star strategy

I have been playing Rising Star for quite a while now. It is totally free to start playing and so anyone can play. I find some of the other Hive games are too much about spending money.

Yes, I do have my own card. Actually this is a special edition that I got in the Hotel Buskeria part of the game. I had to invest a lot of my existing cards to win it, but then I felt I had to have it. My fan count went down quite a bit and is recovering slowly. The price of packs was doubled fairly recently, so I am not buying as many as before.

I have managed to get fairly high in the rankings despite having a lot less cards than other people due to collecting unique cards. The ranking system changed to make uniques a bigger factor. You do get some extra rewards from being ranked, but it is not a big deal. It does give me something to use on buying more cards.

I have collected all the regular crafted cards, but I still need more of some of the seasonal ones. I will have to wait for those missions to come around again.

There are lots of ways to get unique cards apart from buying packs or individual cards on the market. You can blend cards with a couple of opportunities each month. There is Hotel Buskeria as mentioned above and also the Pawn Shop. The issue with some of the latter is that you have to collect lots of a given card from the Hotel and that means giving up other cards. I just do not have that many to get rid of and I want to keep my fan count high so I can earn more Starbits.

A while back I found that my 'ego' was getting out of control and so I have to be more choosy about what missions I run. I also need to run a lesson mission every couple of days. I built up lots of production cards so that I get a decent amount of skill each time to counter the ego.

I am one of the biggest holders of Fan Club cards. You have to invest a lot of Starpro for each of those, so I exchange Starbits for that. A new card is issued each week, but it will take me many weeks to do the 25 missions required. There are only two people ahead of me on this.

I have bought a lot of music through the game and the records count as cards too. The music is generally pretty cheap, so you may want to support some Hive artists that way.

I am feeling that my progress in the game has slowed down a bit, mostly due to the increased price of packs, but that is okay as it is just a little fun. I know some people buy hundreds of packs each time new cards are issued, but I do not make enough in the game to do that. I do invest a little of what I earn elsewhere on Hive.

I think that Rising Star is still a good game that has added more ways to play without making it too complex or putting off new players. I know @atomcollector who created it has a few more ideas he wants to add, but I think he does all the development and that takes time. There is a nice community around it that he must be very proud of.
