Untitled: An original song for Vibes Web3 Music Competition Week 7
I have missed a few of these, so it is time I did another entry for this wonderful competition that is bringing so many new people to Hive.
I have been on Hive for a long time. I did over 100 entries for the original Open MIc contest and won some prizes in that. It encouraged me to write more original songs. I do solo performances, but also play with @swing42 and @theriverkicks.
I found this in my songbook and it seems I wrote it a few years ago, but I had to adapt it a little and work out some chords to perform it now. You may notice that the song is mostly made up from the titles of other songs. See how many you can spot.

I've done that song a few times. I did go for a few songs that I happen to like. I've got little idea of what is in the charts these days.
I havent seen a chart in ages. I cant remember when I knew what was what in them!
When I was at school I think it came out one a Tuesday lunchtime and some kid who went home for lunch would come back with it scrawled on a scrap of paper. Years later we would listen to it on a Sunday evening when having dinner with the kids. Now I have no idea where or when it comes out. Does anyone even buy singles now?
I think it is based on streaming now. Surely, sad I don't think singles are totally a thing.
I remember recording the best songs from the radio on a Sunday. Lol, trying to skip the DJ at the start and end!

Love the way you've weaved so many different song titles into this one. Very cool indeed. What are the chords out of curiosity? I actually recorded my guitar the other day, it sounded a bit hmmmmmm, so will do a few more takes and maybe, just maybe, share something with you all.
The chords are just G Am D C in various combinations. I need to get back into writing new songs and see if I can do a second album. I want to do more on the production this time with some real drums and possibly guest appearances by some friends. I need to find inspiration.

Random question: Is this purely a lyrical/instrumental contest? Do they also accept electronic music too? I was trying to find the very first intro post on it but couldn't.
You could ask about that. It tends to be mostly live performances. I think someone submitted a produced track and they had some issues with that. One of the issues with this sort of contest is that people could submit music created by others. The old Open Mic had to include the rule that people say who they are at the start of the video to authenticate it.
I've only entered this one twice and you can get some nice votes from the big accounts. I know they are trying to bring in new people via Twtr and that is an extra incentive. They are getting hundreds of entries, so I don't envy the judges.

They must be inundated! I’ve just recorded a podcast with guitar and synth clips in it, I’ll push that out in a day or two- castgarden and Substack to see which performs the best in terms of listeners.
I think I’ll stick to my own thing, probably easier though there are ways of recording my system in performance and including myself at the same time.

I assume you are talking about Hivewatchers/Spaminator, but I have zero influence on them and don't agree with everything they do.
