That's really annoying! The bag is supposed to protect the instrument. I have soft cases for my guitars as the hard ones are so heavy. No problems so far...

Same here, I’ve always preferred the lighter, backpack style gig bag. Now that I have the hard shell, I use a dolly. 😬
