Fooling around for Monday Drum Day, plus big gig news
Today is a holiday in the UK as it will be in many other places for Easter. I have been doing some work in the garden, but found a moment to play some drums. I really need to practice more as we have a big gig coming up in the summer. My band @theriverkicks has been accepted to play at GoatFest. I have not been to this festival, but we could have a big audience for our afternoon slot. Fellow Hivers @purplesinger, @anna-newkey and @daniellemurray are also in the band and we shall have to figure out what songs to play.
Broadway and movie star Keala Settle is headlining and people of a certain age will remember Showaddywaddy who had a few hits in the 70's with their retro rock and roll style.
The Riverkicks play a mix of traditional and more modern folk tunes. There are eight of us with multiple singers, including me, and I play the drums too. We have only played one small gig so far, so this is exciting. We will not get paid, but should get some free food. I am looking into camping for the weekend to enjoy the other acts. We need to find out how things work when it comes to setting up to play as they will need to set us up with microphones and I need to assemble my drum kit. I may look at upgrading it a little before then. It really needs new drum heads/skins.
Rock on!

That's awesome that you get to play a festival like that. I have never heard of any of those bands before, but it looks like they have a really diverse lineup!
Most will just be on the local scene, but some have been in chart bands.
Cool.
That's awesome despite Showaddywaddy 😀😀
What's wrong with them? I had one of their albums back then.
For me they were everything I hated back then. But every band has it's fans and haters!
Nice work! Riverkicks was lucky to snare you, a shining cymbal of what a folk drummer should be.
Flam me a paradiddle! Shucks.
That’s a fantastic job
I love your drumming style
Congrats on the festival acceptance. That's very exciting news. Appearing on a poster with Showaddywaddy. Not bad. 😁

felicidades por tus progresos has sido constante.
yeah it's an exciting thing for sure. I'm really looking forward to it.
We have lots to discuss and arrange before the gig. I'm thinking we need more of an online presence so people can look us up.
I agree with you Steve. We could also do with some proper recordings and a facebook page for people to look at.
