Monday Drumday: Take it to the bridge
I am still having fun with the Drumeo drum school. As well as the lessons I get some entertainment from it with documentaries about players. Todd Sucherman of Styx does some of those and he engages with people in their comments section.
I have now done a few of the monthly student collaborations. This month it is Under The Bridge by the Red Hot Chilli Peppers. There is a lot going on in this song. It starts with some cross stick (hitting the snare rim) and evolves through some varied patterns before switching to lots of cymbal action. With some sections I could not play the full part, but I tried to add something to the song.
I have done dual cameras again, but did not think about it making it look like I am sitting on my own head. That may raise a smile.
Drumeo did a feature of Chad Smith of the Chilli Peppers. He still seems to love what he does.
The video for last month's collaboration is up. They had to extend the song to get everyone in. I am in the first batch starting at 1:10.
They are a very supportive bunch. I do have a Hive link in my forum signature there, but I am not aware of anyone signing up yet.
Rock on!
Lol. It did look a bit like you were sitting on your head. Good job, I have always loved that song. I remember trying to learn it when I first started playing guitar. That was a stretch!
I don't think I've tried it on guitar. Their songs are all about feel and getting that right is hard. Chad just seems like such a nice guy. He jokes about just using a couple of patterns, but he puts in lots of extra touches.
You're always making me remember a friend who knows how to drum well
You're very good at this too
The beats are lovely
Cheers. It's all for fun.
Now you are a professional drum man. I really like to listen your music because its amazing and impressive. Thanks for sharing.
Nice work Steve, had to look for a minute for the dual cam :) lol... When you listen to the song it looks easy, but it got this lazy timed bassdrum... Wel done !!!
I just can't do all the kicks, but I'll keep working on it.
