”At Last”
No rehearsal, no discussion, it’s another one of those songs you’re expected to know. The bass part is not famous. Nothing specific required. It’s common for a bass player to know how to create a “fundamental” 6/8 or 12/8 bass groove. Good counting skill is essential and will make all this very easy. Ever if the notes were all written out, one could get though with chord change and rhythmic knowledge. The other musicians want me and my bass style to improvise on this. Advanced navigation is count, be musical and make parts appropriate to the chord changes, mark every 4s, 8s, or 16 measure, and stay out of the singer’s way while simultaneously providing foundational intonation and rhythm.
