Update: Tetrahedroseph Busy Recording In December 2024.
December 2024 was a busy recording month for Tetrahedroseph’s next album, “Cumbia Truck.”
🧺A list of recorded instruments would include tenor pan, flute, Cajon, Sangban, cabasa, and shaker. Lots and lots of percussion. Maybe a few Bass parts too.
🩸🐟Yes, that’s a knif.
I used a large fillet knife as a mallet. The sound it created was a nice contrast to the typical wooden mallet. The knife mallet had a cool click, and slap kind of sound to it. There was a nice tone without Bass frequencies/low mid frequencies. The regular mallet has a nice deep mid range thunk. I’m happy for this discovery. It almost sounds like two instruments are playing together.
The Sangban usually has a mallet and a large nail to play the bell. I recorded bell patterns/cowbell parts separately. It’s not exactly the same drum they used in Colombian Cumbia, but it’s pretty close. I liked it enough to play a solo or two.

The follow up album to Tetrahedroseph’s Cumbia Transmission will be an album going by the name of, “Cumbia Truck“
The new album “Cumbia Truck“ we’ll have 7 to 9 songs. The songs will be at a moderate or slow tempo. The songs might be a little weird, but you can still dance to it.
The instrumentation on “Cumbia Truck“ will contain the usual array of instruments Tetrahedroseph music features. Almost everything except for the drum set/trap drums is recorded live. If there isn’t a drum set, there might be a GarageBand specific Latin percussion ensemble. Sometimes I start with this percussion ensemble and gradually replace it. Other times I keep it in the mix and use it. I try to select patterns that resemble what I imagine my skill level to be.
