LIVE BIG BAND MUSIC

This song comes to you as a service of Josephs BassCam. Footage is from May 15, 2026. This is the last performance on our semester.

Today’s video features the first song. It our new regular opening tune called “*This Could Be The Start Of Something Big.” performed by me and the SACC Big Band lead by Vince Hizon.

It’s appropriate for us to use as on opener because the song was used that way originally.

Per Wiki: “Originally, the song was written as part of the score for the 1954 television musical production of The Bachelor. This score earned Allen a Sylvania Award (awarded "For Outstanding Contribution to Creative Television Technique").[1]
In 1956, "This Could be the Start of Something" replaced the original opening theme to Allen's NBC talk show, Tonight Starring Steve Allen, until Allen left the show in 1957 to be replaced by Jack Paar. It became something of a personal theme song for him, being used as the opening to his other talk and variety shows, as well as during the opening of both the CBS and syndicated versions of I've Got a Secret during his time as host.”

The GoPro Session mounted with a suction cup for the 5-string bass. No sticky GoPro mounts. The suction cup device is ver versatile. I also use it on the boats. Attaches to windows nicely.
I have the GoPro Session on minimal setting… 1080, 30fps, and wide angle. Battery power usually runs out before the last part of our performance. I recently discovered that I save myself a lot of battery life and a lot of editing work if I just start and stop recording between songs. I have also discovered that I can capture the entire performance if I use my phone/mount after the GoPro runs out. I should just get another GoPro Session off eBay.

Bass: Fender Jazz Bass Ultra 5 String… formerly known for being difficult to play. It wasn’t the “Bread and Butter.” It’s new instrument and the factory set-up was high and difficult to play. I tolerated it for a long time because it helped me build strength.
I’m not doing that anymore. I adjusted the action of the stings, did the intonation, and adjusted the neck. Small changes make a big difference. I like the bass lots lots lots more now. I know this because I find myself wanted to play it at inappropriate time of the day.

Thank you for reading and watching.

Thanks for the juicy upvotes!
