Legendary Rock Songs: DO WHAT I SAY: CLAWFINGER.
Theme: Do What I Say
Disc: Use Your Brain
Year: 1995
More than one probably did not even know its title or the name of the band that composed this song, since it is quite common to hear it referred to as “the girl's song”. And it is that the childish voice that said that of “when i grow up there will be a day when everybody has to do what i say” was undoubtedly a great attraction, differentiating and significant, of this famous song. The Swedish Clawfinger, one of the most important bands of the “crossover” and fusion metal trends in Europe, hit the nail on the head with this energetic and energetic piece from their second album, very popular among the public at the time.
Although they have never managed to stand out too much with any of their singles, they maintain a privileged position in the business as clear precursors of the “one metal” in the Old Continent. The theme was a kind of parental scolding, a proud reproach of those that some parents throw at their children as if making them see their eternal debt of gratitude to them for having certain facilities, advantages and privileges.
Actually, the background was purely critical, hence that “when I grow up there will be a day when everyone will have to do what I say”. All this spiced with a good dose of extreme sound resulted in an authentic avant-garde metal time bomb.
I hope you like this new project and see you in a future edition of “Legendary Rock Songs (LRS). A Thousand Blessings.
