Green Day

Theme:BASKET CASE.
Disc:Dookie.
Year:1994.

Maybe its constant radio programming has made some people fed up with it. In a way it is logical, but it is also sad that the mere abhorrence of a song by a part of the public ends up burning a song as fun as this one. What is certain is that anyone who has paid a minimum of attention in the last ten years to what was happening in the music scene knows how to hum this sunny tune full of good vibes and absurd humor.

Because although the topic does not stop being in certain way the same one to give turns to the lost adolescence of the 90's, here this one treating with the gamberrismo and the horny carefree own of the punk and very especially of the trio of Berkeley. Green Day scored a set of memorable melodies and guitars full of carefree rhythm played with the basics and got one of those songs that are engraved in the neurons of the public for its irresistible hook and its easy formula.

After “Longview” already made the public turn their eyes towards them, when “Basket Case” settled on the radio and MTV Green Day were already the absolute kings of the summer of '94 with this song so appropriate for the hot season of the year. Billie Joe Armstrong spoke gracefully of a boy lost in various neuroses and minor mental instabilities in his search for solutions to his unconscious behaviors, the living reflection of the average American teenager treated from a very different perspective than the pessimistic search for identity of Nirvana and grunge. There was only room for fun here, and Green Day surely had a great time seeing how “Basket Case”, their biggest hit single to date, brought them fame.

Thank you for reading me. See you in another post with more from these publishers. A thousand blessings.
