#39 History Of Rock Music: ROB ZOMBIE: IMPLUSO SINISTER.
It is no secret that White Zombie was one of the most impressive and sensational bands of the 90s. Although in their early years they went unnoticed, their international explosion with “La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Vol. 1” and even more with “Astro Creep 200” made them a very characteristic group of that period of rock fusion and innovation. A delirious image inspired by comic books and B-movies and a tremendous sound were their best credentials, and they had the potential to establish themselves as a great metal act.
No es un secreto que White Zombie fue una de las bandas mas impactantes y que causo mayor sensación en la década de los 90. Aunque en sus primeros años pasaron desapercibidos, su explosión a nivel internacional con “La Sexorcisto: Devil Music Vol. 1” y aun en mayor medida con “Astro Creep 200” les convirtió en un grupo muy característico de aquel periodo de fusión e innovación rockera. Imagen delirante inspirada en los comics y las películas de serie B y sonido tremebundo eran sus máximas credenciales, y tuvieron papeletas para asentarse como un gran acto del metal.
But the group went down the drain with millions of fans waiting for another terrifying work when their leader Rob Zombie, the soul of the band, decided to follow his own path. A path not far from the “White Zombie”, but in which he was now the main protagonist. He continued to squander his charisma with his peculiar vocal style, full of “yeahs”, with that roaring and cavernous reverberation of his voice, and delighted with an image even more freaky and grotesque than before. So before the hungry White Zombie fans who had been waiting for centuries for something new from the now defunct band, Rob Zombie had everything in his favor to win back the public he had left behind years ago.
Pero el grupo se fue al garete con millones de fans esperando otra obra de terrorífica factura al decidir su líder Rob Zombie, alma de la banda, seguir su propio camino. Una senda no muy alejada de el “Zombie Blanco”, pero en la que el se llevaba ahora el máximo protagonismo. Siguió derrochando su carisma con su peculiar estilo vocal, plagado de “yeahs”, con esa reverberación rugiente y cavernosa de su voz, y deleito con una imagen aun mas freakie y grotesca que antaño. Asi que ante los hambrientos fans de White Zombie que llevaban siglos esperando algo nuevo por parte de la desaparecida banda, Rob Zombie tenia todo a su favor para volver a conquistar al publico que había dejado en volandas años atrás.
“Hellbilly Deluxe” his first solo work (followed by the usual remixes that Mr. Zombie is so fond of) was his calling card, which suddenly put him back on the music scene. The album enjoyed the repercussion that his ex-band provoked, maintaining the interest for a totally unique man who placed “Living Dead Girl” in the most listened charts. Thus, “The Sinister Urge” was an album eagerly awaited by a potential public that follows his every step, as confirmed by the more than half a million copies sold in the United States.
“Hellbilly Deluxe” su primera obra solista (seguida por los consabidos remixes a los que el señor Zombie es tan aficionado) fue su tarjeta de presentación, que le repuso de golpe en la escena musical. El álbum gozo de la repercusión que provocaba su exbanda, manteniendo el interés por un hombre totalmente único que colo en los charts de mas escuchados “Living Dead Girl”. Asi las cosas “The Sinister Urge” era un disco ansiado por un publico potencial que sigue cada uno de sus pasos, y asi lo confirman el mas de medio millón de copias que lleva vendidas en los States.
A new work of excellent workmanship in which he has had a lot of guests, including Ozzy, and that despite keeping him with a very notable popularity returns him to a not so main plane within the rock that allows him greater freedom to unleash a mind in continuous boiling. Un nuevo trabajo de excelente factura en el que ha contado con un monton de invitados, entre ellos Ozzy, y que pese a mantenerle con una popularidad muy notable le devuelve a un plano no tan principal dentro del rock que le permite mayor libertad para dar rienda suelta a una mente en continua ebullición. Involucrado en miles de proyectos (cine, bandas sonoras, el tributo a los Ramones que prepara con nombres de primera fila, producción, etc…), Rob es un hombre con cientos de inquietudes y el talento suficiente como para saber alimentarlas todas ellas.
