#1 History Of Rock: AC/DC Still Young.
Hello my people, I hope you are all very well today, I wish you all a happy beginning of the week. Friends I want to inform you that today we begin with an editorial, this time with reports on the bands and are a little more extensive but worth bringing them for all lovers of rock music, so they are rock stories that I bring in each of the editorials from today. Enjoy. A thousand blessings.
Mil bendiciones.
Who would have thought that the young Angus Young, who went to rehearsal after school in his school uniform, that this outfit would become one of the classic images of rock, and the symbol of one of the most beloved and essential hard/heavy metal bands. In faraway Australia, the Young brothers were following in the footsteps of their older brother George, who had had some success with his band The Easybeats in their homeland. What they did not expect was to surpass by far the success of the eldest of the brood, and become one of the essential rock n' roll groups. First they tried with a certain Dave Evans on vocals, but it didn't work out well until the band's bus driver, Bon Scott, took the mic and turned AC/DC into an unstoppable machine of energy and vitality with his punkish air. Scott first offered himself as a drummer, but the guy had the makings of a frontman and it didn't take him long to prove it. With him they recorded a handful of memorable albums that should not be missed in any self-respecting rock disco, “High Voltage” (from the beginning making things clear), “Let There Be Rock” (where the band adopted a divine pose and put rock n' roll on the face of the earth), or the electrifying live “If You Want Blood, You've Got It”. And yes, indeed the world wanted blood, and the Australians were ready to give it without a second thought. From the land of the kangaroos came bursts of riffs and tons of rhythm that were gaining more and more followers.
If You Want Blood, You’ ve Got It”.

With “Highway To Hell” they consolidated their privileged position in the hard rock of the time, becoming the best product ever exported from the huge island. A basic album to understand rock n' roll. Ready to sweep away everything, the band's popularity rose like foam and Angus forged his legend with memorable nights, in which with heart-stopping riffs and solos, his uncontrollable hyperactivity and the characteristic “duck step” inherited from his master Chuck Berry, he got the people in his pocket and put the band on his back, becoming the emblem of the group. But unfortunately, Bon Scott was already on his peculiar “highway to hell”, and his alcoholic addiction took him to the other side of the street, making him a legend, a martyr, but leaving the band in tatters at its best moment. Spirits were low, and the Youngs thought about quitting, but they noticed a Welshman who sang in a band called Geordie, with a cracked, squeaky voice, and they brought him into the band.

AC/DC began a new era, and in what a way. “Back In Black”, their first album with Brian Johnson at the helm, is still considered by many as their greatest work, and the sales of the album (released in absolute black as a tribute and mourning for Scott) already reached 19 million copies in the USA. The album went straight to No. 1 in England, and although in the United States it “only” climbed to the fourth position in the charts, today it is still one of the best-selling rock albums there. The impact was such that the following year, 1981, they headlined the prestigious Monsters of Rock Festival at Donington Park, which wanted to count on them for its second edition. The bell of “Hells Bells” began to ring and no one turned a deaf ear to AC/DC's withering discharge. Things continued on course with “For Those About To Rock (We Salute You)”, another great album that once again topped the British charts, but things took a turn for the worse with “Flick On The Switch” and “Fly On The Wall”, two albums without the band's energetic touch, which became too repetitive (something that their biggest detractors have been criticizing them for years).

In spite of everything in 84 they return to Donington, with Simon Wright as new drummer, and blow up the enclosure for the second time. A year later, in the first edition of Rock In Rio, they slightly disappointed the audience with a repetitive stage formula that was making them lose fans on both sides of the Atlantic. It took them a while to get back in good shape, but with “Blow Up Your Video” (1988) they blew our minds and sold records at a relentless pace. It was their best work in years, where they recovered that unique spark that only they know how to ignite. The tours all over the planet are happening, and in every corner of the world you hear about AC/DC and their impressive live delivery, where they improve day by day, creating a well-deserved reputation as an excellent live band (the best for many). The decade of the 90's couldn't start better. New drummer joins their ranks, an overwhelming Chris Slade, who was not a fool (...you know what I mean). The famous notes of “Thunderstruck” were the ones in charge of opening “The Razor's Edge”, a new work in their best line that takes them (again!!!!) to Donington Park, where they let off steam in front of a devoted audience that was lucky enough to witness a historic concert.

From then on the band would live a second youth, being acclaimed by the new rock generations that surrendered to a true giant of metal that after many years was still standing with iron health. Their record releases are becoming more and more spaced in time, but they continue to add chilling figures, and today we find them with 11 multi-platinum and 19 gold records behind them. It was not until 1995 when they published “Ballbreaker” under the always unmistakable seal of the band. A great album that brings them to our country, with those three magical nights at the Plaza de Las Ventas in Madrid, some explosive shows (TNT!!!!) and historical that would give rise to the video “No Bull”. And for the new millennium, new album, and the first street in the world to bear the name of the band, located in our beloved Leganes. “Stiff Upper Lip” was a regression of their first musical steps, of primary rock and blues aroma, something that earned them the criticism of the four of them, and praise from the rest of us, who continue to love them with passion. We are still with honey on our lips, we hope they come back live or on record, but never go away, you are the greatest!
