AI Music Isn’t Theft—It’s the Next Evolution of Music Technology

People say AI-assisted music steals from real musicians, but let’s be real—music has always borrowed from the past. There are only so many keys on a piano and only so many chord progressions that sound good. If AI is theft, then so is every musician who ever used a classic chord progression like I–V–vi–IV, which thousands of songs use.

And if we’re going to call AI music theft, then what about:

Synthesizers – Did they "steal" from pianists?
Drum machines – Did they "steal" from drummers?
Autotune – Did it "steal" from singers?
Loop pedals & samplers – Are they "stealing" from live players?
Technology has always evolved music. AI isn’t replacing musicians—it’s giving people more tools to create.

What about people who don’t have bandmates? AI lets solo artists write full songs without needing a drummer or bassist. What about disabled musicians? Someone without hands can now create a guitar solo with AI. AI music is about accessibility, not theft.

If you hate AI music, fine, but saying it's "stealing" is hypocritical when music has always evolved through technology. Electric guitars didn’t kill acoustic guitars. Synths didn’t kill real instruments. AI is just another tool—just like every other music innovation before it.
