Hablar de musicales y no mencionar a Grease resulta prácticamente imposible. Aunque para muchos sea una película que no ha envejecido nada bien, para mí guarda un lugar especial como uno de los primeros musicales que vi y que me hicieron interesarme por el género.

Grease nos transporta a la época de los adolescentes rebeldes, con chaquetas de cuero y peines en el bolsillo, narrándonos una inocente y, en muchos aspectos, torpe historia de amor entre Sandy y Danny.

Nos habla del amor en la adolescencia, los problemas personales, sueños y esperanzas, centrándose no solo en sus protagonistas principales, sino también dándole la oportunidad de brillar a cada personaje.

Es imposible que no me ponga a cantar con cada tema musical, y que la escena de la construcción del coche no nos haga saltar. Sin dudas, es una de las secuencias más memorables.

It tells us about teenage love, personal problems, dreams and hopes, focusing not only on its main protagonists, but also giving each character a chance to shine.
It is impossible for me not to burst into song with every musical theme, and the car construction scene makes us jump. Without a doubt, it is one of the most memorable sequences.
Grease is, without a doubt, a time machine that makes us travel to another era, already distant, where it shows us a different youth but at the same time full of parallels with today.

Los personajes de esta película están perfectamente construidos. Cada personaje, a pesar de ser representaciones arquetípicas, tiene sus propios matices y aportan al desarrollo de la trama con sus historias y forma de ver la vida, más allá de ser una simple representación del bien y el mal. Inolvidable el sentido de justicia de Javert, el amor no correspondido de Éponine o el matiz cómico de Los Thénardier.

Finalmente toca el turno de la película que ocupa el puesto número 1 de mi lista.

Los triángulos amorosos siempre son un buen tema para una película, y si están ubicados en el París bohemio, el plato está servido para una obra maestra. Nuestra protagonista, Satine, tendrá que decidir si seguir sus sueños de ser actriz o rendirse a los brazos del romántico escritor Christian. Una película que nos deja un sabor agridulce.

Moulin Rouge destaca por una historia de amor, traición y celos. La historia ocurre a una velocidad increíble, dejándonos pendientes en todo momento de los acontecimientos que sucederán. Los momentos de comedia son seguidos casi al instante por el drama y los sentimientos más viscerales de los personajes. Una historia que no nos deja indiferentes.

Ver este filme es disfrutar de una reinvención del género, donde la música se desliga de la época. Quizás este será el punto que más me llama la atención: Moulin Rouge no usa canciones originales, en cambio, hace un uso magistral de melodías pop rock ya conocidas, en ocasiones mezclándolas y creando obras totalmente distintas a la original. We won't find it strange to hear Madonna's "Like a Virgin" in the voice of the cabaret owner, because it feels completely justified and in keeping with the plot.
I highly recommend this movie, perfect to watch alone or in company. A touching love story, spectacular performances with great movie stars and, above all, an explosion of music, sequins and colors.
