VIBES WEEK 2 : Like You
Hello everyone this is Vibes Web3 music competition week 2 and I am happy to be part of this competition, a big thank you to @lordbutterfly for organizing this competition.
I have been here for a few days and I am loving Hive already.
For this week I chose “Like You” by Tatiana Manaois. I chose this song because it encourages those who have low self-esteem to build their self-esteem and those who cannot stand up for themselves due to the emotional torture they go through to seek help for their mental health, because depression is real. This song brings back memories of the state of my mental health when I was in a toxic relationship.
The unstableness of one’s mental health is something one shouldn’t take for granted. Your Mental health affects how you think, how you act, how you handle stress and make decisions. Here I will be telling my own story
A lot of people go into depression as a result of how they are being treated or the negative impact the words of others have on them and this can happen on a daily basis.
I was once depressed, and that was caused as a result of the toxic relationship I was in. My mental health and state of mind were being tampered with, it affected how I interacted with people and made decisions. I had so much fear buckled inside of me. I couldn’t make male friends, and I couldn’t make friends with my colleagues, I tell him where I go, and if I don't tell him my whereabout, it causes a very big fight between us, mind you we weren't even married. He stopped me from social media but he was in it, there were so many things I relegated myself to because of him. My self-esteem was thwarted and this went on for three years. Deep down I knew I wasn’t in a healthy relationship but as they say “You can’t advice one who is in love” It was so difficult getting out as I had my fears if I got out of the relationship. This is how you tend to feel when your self-esteem is trampled upon.
I couldn’t figure out a way to leave such toxic relationship, it was hard, I felt caged and I couldn’t figure out how to get out. One thing I know is that depression kills if you don’t seek help and solutions. Many people have died from depression, some have gone mad from depression and some are currently suicidal.
How I got out of this situation was a miracle. To start with, I severed all ties with him, his parents, siblings and everyone I knew through him. I changed my phone number, I occasionally went out when he came across my mind, I listened to good and uplifting music, I made friends, I said words of affirmation to myself, I didn’t see myself less any longer, and lastly I allowed my mind and heart to heal and that was how I built my self-esteem back. I had to advise myself because my mental health was on the line and my mental health means a lot to me.
I share this song with you all just maybe someone out there might need such powerful lyrics to mend their broken heart.
THE LYRICS
You got to get up
You got to get up and make a move
'Cause the world will never see you until you do
No, they don't really care what you're going through
So you got to show them, baby
You got to show them the real you
You got to give them what you've got
No, don't let them see what you're not
'Cause you are strong, you are wise
You are worth beyond the thousand reasons why
And you can't be perfect, baby
'Cause nobody's perfect, darling
But, no, no, no, there's nobody in the world like you
What do you do when you can't let go? (Can't let go)
What do you say when you just don't know how you feel?
(Just don't know how you feel)
And you know nobody knows how you feel (feel)
'Cause everybody's got their own damn problem (their own damn problem)
So everybody's trying to find their way
And day by day, it's a struggle
In this world you know you have to hustle
Just know that you're not alone
You don't always have to be strong all by yourself
(All by yourself)
I said, it's okay to ask for help
Now listen
People will find you, but they don't define you
And you will find people who'll help redesign you
People will find you, but they don't define you
And you will find people who'll help redesign you
You are a work of art
Bet you didn't think you'd come this far
Now here you are
Baby, you are strong, you are wise
You are worth beyond the thousand reasons why
And you can't be perfect, baby
'Cause nobody's perfect, darling
But, no, no, no, there's nobody in the world like you
You know you're worth it
'Cause you know that you can't be perfect, baby
'Cause nobody's perfect, darling
I love you just the way that you are
I love you just the way that you are, my love
It's like the stars in the sky, oh, when you look in my eyes

I actually listened to you well because I love the song itself and you sang it so well.
Nice entry 👍
Thank you very much @ayomike
I'm sorry about what you passed through, but I'm glad to know that you were able to find solution to it. A toxic relationship is not something I wished for anyone, it's always better to walk away, you don't have to hold on until your knuckles turns white
Titiana is one of my favourite, and I would say you tried with your presentation... Keep it up.
Thank you very much dear.yeah me too, I dont wish for anyone to go through what I went through. But I am happy I was able to get out.
Thank you for sharing your heartfelt story. It takes courage to open up about such personal struggles. Your choice of 'Like You' by Tatiana Manaois is powerful and relatable. Your message about the importance of mental health and self-esteem is truly inspiring. Keep spreading positivity!
Thank you very much, your comment is very much appreciated. I just had to share my life experience for people who are still struggling to get out of their toxic relationship to take a bold step like I did.
