Durante estos días me he topado con un montón de canciones maravillosas: de esas que me encantan, pues llenan el alma de una esencia motivadora que no se puede comparar con nada en este mundo. En tiempos de incertidumbre, la ansiedad nos gana: preocupaciones que vienen con sabores amargos, dignas de lágrimas. Siempre necesitamos un empujoncito, sobre todo si las cosas no nos salen del todo bien. Es casi imposible que, alguna vez en nuestras vidas, nos encontremos en un callejón sin salida, sin alguna esperanza real de romper la incertidumbre. En esos instantes, lo que más provoca es desconectarse del mundo.

Yo lo hago en mi habitación: una desconexión en la que solo permito mis auriculares y a mi buen amigo Spotify. Una canción en particular ha estado acompañándome, y en este post, te diré de cuál se trata.

During these days I have come across a lot of wonderful songs: the kind that I love, because they fill the soul with a motivating essence that cannot be compared to anything else in this world. In times of uncertainty, anxiety wins us over: worries that come with bitter flavors, worthy of tears. We always need a little push, especially if things don't go quite right. It is almost impossible that, at some point in our lives, we find ourselves in a dead end, without any real hope of breaking the uncertainty. In those moments, the most provocative thing to do is to disconnect from the world.

I do it in my room: a disconnection in which I allow only my headphones and my good friend Spotify. One song in particular has been accompanying me, and in this post, I'll tell you which one it is.

Kany Garcia es una de mis cantantes latinas favoritas; soy un fiel creyente de que sus canciones, más que tocar el corazón, mueven el alma. Conocí parte de su repertorio musical cuando estaba pasando por uno de los momentos más difíciles de mi vida. Su canción, llamada "confieso", me ayudó a drenar muchas cosas que mantenían un nudo en mi garganta. Su voz me enamoró de inmediato: con una tonalidad imponente, pero a la vez dulce al tímpano. A partir de allí, la enlisté en mis playlists, siendo esta una de las protagonistas más destacadas.

Para esta ocasión, en una situación tan compleja como la que vivimos los venezolanos, pensar en esperanza es bastante difícil. No mentiré; hemos pasado por muchas cosas y sobrevivido a tantas otras. En torno a esta necesidad tan creciente de no perder la fe en que mi país cambiará, hallé una canción que se estaba haciendo tendencia en Twitter. Esta es: "Remamos", original de Kany Garcia y Natalia Lafourcade, una colaboradora igual de talentosa. Oír ambas voces es, sin duda alguna, un paseo auditivo repleto de magia... sobre todo, por la letra tan hermosa que ambas mujeres entonan.

Kany Garcia is one of my favorite Latin singers; I am a faithful believer that her songs, more than touching the heart, move the soul. I came across part of her musical repertoire when I was going through one of the most difficult times in my life. Her song, called "confieso", helped me to drain a lot of things that kept a lump in my throat. I immediately fell in love with her voice: with an imposing tonality, but at the same time sweet to the eardrum. From then on, I enlisted her in my playlists, this being one of the most outstanding protagonists.

For this occasion, in a situation as complex as the one we Venezuelans live in, thinking about hope is quite difficult. I won't lie; we have been through so many things and survived so many others. Around this growing need to not lose faith that my country will change, I found a song that was trending on Twitter. It is: "Remamos", original by Kany Garcia and Natalia Lafourcade, an equally talented collaborator. Hearing both voices is, without a doubt, an auditory journey full of magic... especially because of the beautiful lyrics that both women sing.

Remamos es una de esas canciones que te hacen pensar en algo como esto: "vale, la vida no es fácil, pero hay que seguir adelante." Y es muy cierto. Cada uno de nosotros tiene un océano en el que debe remar para conducir cada sueño, meta, objetivo o proceso. Algunas aguas son tranquilas, otras son turbulentas. No podemos elegir la calma de las olas, aunque sí decidir cómo navegamos sobre ellas. Es así de simple, pero se comprende más con una canción que habla con verdad sobre las leyes del destino. Puede que tu bote sea pequeño, y que no sea tan bonito. No te enfoques en eso: mejor enfócate en remar hasta llegar a la orilla.

Sé que es difícil mantener un barco muy pequeño entre olas gigantes. No obstante, aprendemos que parte de nuestra lucha depende de grandes riesgos: si no nos arriesgamos, jamás podremos llegar al otro lado del océano. Gran parte de estas reflexiones surgen de escuchar esta maravillosa canción de Kany Garcia y Natalia Lafourcade. Que sean dos mujeres y, que a su vez, conecten su mensaje en un mismo simbolismo, es bastante conmovedor.

Your boat may be small, and it may not be so pretty. Don't focus on that: focus instead on rowing it to shore.

I know it's hard to keep a very small boat amid giant waves. However, we learn that part of our struggle depends on big risks: if we don't take risks, we will never make it to the other side of the ocean. Much of these reflections come from listening to this wonderful song by Kany Garcia and Natalia Lafourcade. That they are two women and, at the same time, connect their message in the same symbolism, is quite moving.

Al navegar sobre las olas, nos cuestionaremos sobre la propia dureza del alta mar. Habrá que dejar muchas cosas antes de zarpar, pero lo más importante permanecerá siempre en nuestro corazón. ¿Detenernos? ¡Eso jamás! Las guerras que nunca se ganan son las que jamás se pelean, por esto, es fundamental que busquemos ese nuevo comienzo, aunque duela al principio o nos derrumbemos a cada instante. Las armas que tenemos no son letales, pues solo nos ayudan a avanzar: una de estas es la música.

Así que, ¡es hora de seguir remando! Aunque el nudo en el pecho nos haga suspirar de nostalgia. Atrás quedará lo que nunca nos permitió sonreír de esperanza. Delante, con la vista en el horizonte, el tesoro está rodeado de peligros. ¿Vale la pena el viaje? Aunque naufraguemos, aunque nuestro barco sucumba o nunca deje de estar amenazado, debemos tener la vista allá, donde se marca el sol radiante y el porvenir maravilloso.

Remamos, lo sé, pero a un lugar más próspero.
