Estaba repasando algunas de mis películas y series de televisión favoritas cuando, de pronto, YouTube me recomendó una playlist completa con muchos Sountracks que, al menos para mí, fueron nostálgicos. De niño me encantaba entonar a todo pulmón varias de las canciones de las caricaturas que más veía, incluso mi papá me compraba discos para poder oírlas y hacer karaoke. El tiempo pasa y, en un pestañeo, nuestra infancia queda atrás. Yo disfruté mucho la mía, y en este post conocerás cómo ese arte musical, implícito en la TV y el Cine, lo hizo emocionante…

Estos son los 5 Sountracks que, sí o sí, debiste escuchar alguna vez. Si no es así, hoy los conocerás.

I was reviewing some of my favorite movies and TV series when, suddenly, YouTube recommended a playlist full of Soundtracks that, at least for me, were nostalgic. As a kid I loved to sing at the top of my lungs several of the songs from the cartoons I watched the most, even my dad would buy me records so I could listen to them and do karaoke. Time goes by and our childhood is behind us in the blink of an eye. I enjoyed mine, and in this post, you will learn how this musical art, implicit in TV and movies, made it exciting...

5 – iCarly: Leave It All To Me

Además de esperar con ansias los nuevos episodios de iCarly, esperaba que el opening sonara para hacerme el cantante. Tenía unos nueve años para ese entonces. Aunque la canción estaba en inglés, mis hermanos y yo la entonábamos como si se tratara de un lenguaje de garabatos; era divertido, jajaja. Por supuesto, solo escuchábamos un pedacito de la canción, con la cual iniciaba el Show de esos desarrapados y locos adolescentes y su Web Show. Si mi memoria no falla, había un canal de TV donde trasmitían las canciones de todas las series juveniles famosas del momento. Creo que fue por allí que la oí completa.

La canción detrás de la Intro de iCarly fue entonada por la protagonista del Show, o sea, Miranda Cosgrove. Junto a ella cantó otro muy famoso actor, nada más y nada menos que Drake Bell. Ambos le dieron vida a “Leave It All To Me”, uno de los temas musicales más famosos en la historia de las series juveniles de Nickelodeon. En la actualidad, casi 14 años después, este tema musical sigue abriendo la serie de televisión, ya enfocada en un público más adulto. Dado a las controversias en las que se sumergió Drake, no sé si retiraron su voz de la pieza original. Aunque sigue pareciendo la misma, XD.

In addition to looking forward to new episodes of iCarly, I was waiting for the opening to play to make me the singer. I was about nine years old at the time. Even though the song was in English, my siblings and I would chant it as if it were a doodle language; it was fun. Of course, we only listened to a snippet of the song, which started the show of those raggedy, crazy teenagers and their Web Show. If my memory serves me correctly, there was a TV channel where they broadcasted the songs of all the famous youth series of the moment. I think it was there that I heard the whole thing.

The song behind the Intro of iCarly was sung by the show's main character, Miranda Cosgrove. Alongside her sang another very famous actor, none other than Drake Bell. Both gave life to "Leave It All To Me", one of the most famous musical themes in the history of Nickelodeon's youth series. Today, almost 14 years later, this theme song continues to open the television series, now focused on a more adult audience. Given the controversies Drake immersed himself in, I don't know if they removed his voice from the original piece. Although it still sounds the same, XD.

4 – Tarzán: Hijo de Hombre

Disney se ha caracterizado por familiarizar sus películas con el peculiar estilo de los musicales. De Tarzán recuerdo un montón de piezas que engalanaron la banda sonora del largometraje animado. La naturaleza de estas canciones era más familiar, más cercana a la conexión que se origina por una tragedia en común. Gran parte del Sountrack, de manera curiosa, tocaba líricas genéricas sobre estos vínculos, pero con cierto afín a lo que relataba la animación de Tarzán. Muchas te hacen llorar; una de la que más me gusta es “Hijo de Hombre”, entonada por Phil Collins.

La lírica es hermosa, y tal como les decía, se refiere al vínculo familiar en la evolución del tiempo y el destino, con ese toque de motivación que te orilla a pensar que estás destinado a cumplir tus sueños, así como también a crecer con ellos. Sin duda Phil Collins es y seguirá siendo uno de mis cantantes favoritos, de hecho, lo es desde mi niñez.

Disney has been known for familiarizing its films with the peculiar style of musicals. From Tarzan, I remember a lot of pieces that graced the soundtrack of the animated feature. The nature of these songs was more familiar, closer to the connection that originates from a common tragedy. Much of the Soundtrack, in a curious way, touched on generic lyrics about these bonds, but with some affinity to what Tarzan's animation told. Many bring you to tears; one of the ones I like best is "Son of Man," intoned by Phil Collins.

The lyric is beautiful, and as I was saying, it refers to the family bond in the evolution of time and destiny, with that touch of motivation that makes you think that you are destined to fulfill your dreams, as well as grow with them. Without a doubt, Phil Collins is and will continue to be one of my favorite singers he has been since my childhood.

3 – El Rey León: El Ciclo sin fin

Del Rey León tenía un disco completo, con todas las canciones de la banda sonora y por supuesto, el tan importante karaoke. Es increíble que muchos años después todavía recuerde la letra de casi todas estas canciones con exactitud, ¡vaya sorpresa! Debo admitir que cuando comencé a oírlas para avivar los tiempos de mi niñez, tanto los escalofríos (de emoción, XD) como mi voz se unieron para recitar las sonatas de este hermoso clásico de Disney. Sin duda, hay mucha profundidad en el significado detrás de la música de esta película. Son tantas las que me gustan, que tal vez un solo post no bastaría para describirlas. No obstante, si debo elegir una, esta es El Ciclo Sin Fin… ¡Es la que más nostalgia me trae!

¿Podemos hallar nuestro legado en el ciclo de la vida? Esta canción nos ayuda a entenderlo. En este mundo, desde que nacemos, intentamos buscar nuestro lugar de felicidad. A veces no es fácil hallarlo, más aún si estamos solos o nos sentimos solos. Perder las esperanzas no es una opción… de alguna manera encontramos ese lugar, solo no hay que olvidar a la fe.

The Lion King had a complete album, with all the songs from the soundtrack and of course, the all-important karaoke. It is amazing that many years later I still remember the lyrics of almost all these songs exactly, what a surprise! I must admit that when I started listening to them to enliven the times of my childhood, both chills (of excitement, XD) and my voice joined in reciting the sonatas of this beautiful Disney classic. Without a doubt, there is so much depth of meaning behind the music in this movie. There are so many that I love, that perhaps one post would not be enough to describe them all. However, if I must choose one, this is The Never Ending Cycle... It's the one that brings me the most nostalgia!

Can we find our legacy in the cycle of life? This song helps us to understand it. In this world, from the moment we are born, we try to find our place of happiness. Sometimes it is not easy to find it, even more so if we are alone or feel alone. Losing hope is not an option... somehow we find that place, just don't forget faith.

2 – Dragon Ball Z: Ángeles Fuimos

Fui un amante empedernido de Dragon Ball Z, de hecho, creo que no he sentido la misma emoción que sentí cuando era niño y veía este popular anime. La banda sonora dentro de esta animación japonesa fue fenomenal, incluso me aprendí todos los openings y endings de cada saga. No obstante, hubo una canción en particular que me gustó muchísimo, llena de motivación y esperanza… y de esa gallardía que caracterizaba a los guerreros Z. La pieza musical se llama “Ángeles Fuimos” y es entonada por Adrián Barba, para el Ending de la última entrega de la franquicia.

Debo admitir que estaba dudando si esta canción era mi favorita de la banda sonora, o “Mi Corazón Encantado” de Dragon Ball GT. Como no me gustó esta última entrega de Dragon Ball, la desestimé, pero no por eso es mala, jajaja. Más allá de las difíciles elecciones, la sonata de Adrián Barba es muy melancólica… es como si hablara de ti cuando deseas volar y cumplir tus sueños, con tus imbatibles alas de ángel. Sin duda, lo mejor que he oído en mi niñez, XD.

I was an inveterate Dragon Ball Z lover I don't think I've ever felt the same emotion I felt when I was a kid watching this popular anime. The soundtrack within this Japanese animation was phenomenal, I even learned all the openings and endings of each saga. However, there was one song in particular that I liked, full of motivation and hope... and that gallantry that characterized the Z warriors. The musical piece is called "Angels We Were" and is sung by Adrian Barba, for the Ending of the last installment of the franchise.

I must admit that I was doubting whether this song was my favorite from the soundtrack, or "My Enchanted Heart" from Dragon Ball GT. Since I didn't like this latest installment of Dragon Ball, I dismissed it, but that doesn't make it bad, hahaha. Beyond the difficult choices, Adrian Barba's sonata is very melancholic... it's like he's talking about you when you wish to fly and fulfill your dreams, with your unbeatable angel wings. Without a doubt, the best thing I've heard in my childhood, XD.

1 - Shrek: Aleluya

La banda sonora de esta animación es épica por muchos motivos, entre estos el despliegue de emociones que desbordan varias de las canciones presentes durante el transcurso de la película. Una de las que más me cautivó fue Aleluya, interpretada por John Cale. Me encanta esa fuerza con la que Cale entona la nostalgia del amor y el corazón destrozado. Para aquellos que no han visto Shrek, este es uno de los largometrajes que más mensajes tiene hacia los romances verdaderos, esos que duelen y que nos hacen sufrir. No puedo decir más; Aleluya es un canto a esa sustancia enloquecedora que surge del corazón como un milagro. El piano acompaña a Cale, y juntos hacen que la tierra tiemble.

Por la hermosa y poética letra de esta canción es que Aleluya es mi gran favorita. A pesar de que Shrek es una película para niños, podemos ver el reflejo de muchos mensajes profundos… entonados, además, bajo el poder de la música.

The soundtrack of this animation is epic for many reasons, among these the display of emotions that overflow several of the songs present during the film. One of the songs that captivated me the most was Hallelujah, performed by John Cale. I love that strength with which Cale intones the nostalgia of love and heartbreak. For those who haven't seen Shrek, this is one of the feature films that has the most messages about true romances, those that hurt and make us suffer. I can say no more; Hallelujah is a hymn to that maddening substance that comes from the heart like a miracle. The piano accompanies Cale, and together they make the earth tremble.

It is because of the beautiful and poetic lyrics of this song that Hallelujah is my great favorite. Even though Shrek is a children's movie, we can see the reflection of many profound messages... intoned, moreover, under the power of music.
