Cerrando 2023 con "Rock Entre Panas" 🤘🏻🎸/ Closing 2023 with "Rock Between Buddies" 🤘🏻🎸 [ESP-ENG]

El último viernes de 2023 no pudo ser mejor, fui a un concierto para culminar el año feliz y recibir el nuevo con la energía que te da la música. La cita con Rock Entre Panas fue a partir de las 6:00 de la tarde en una cancha de básquet del sector Las Mercedes, en la ciudad de La Victoria, estado Aragua (Venezuela).

The last Friday of 2023 could not have been better, I went to a concert to end the year happily and receive the new one with the energy that music gives you. The appointment with Rock Between Buddies was at 6:00 pm in a basketball court in Las Mercedes sector, in the city of La Victoria, Aragua state (Venezuela).

Mi hermana y yo llegamos puntuales, y mientras esperábamos a unos amigos, dimos una vuelta para ver el lugar, no habíamos estado antes allí. Es una zona residencial y alrededor de la cancha y una pequeña plaza que está al lado, sólo hay casas.

My sister and I arrived on time, and while we were waiting for some friends, we took a walk around to see the place, we hadn't been there before. It is a residential area and around the court and a small square next to it, there are only houses.

Los organizadores del evento aún no habían terminado de montar algunas luces de la tarima, y faltaban otros detalles técnicos también, según informaron, entonces el concierto se iba a retrasar y para entretenernos un rato, mi hermana y yo nos tomamos algunas fotos por ahí.

The event organizers had not yet finished setting up some of the stage lights, and other technical details were missing as well, so the concert was going to be delayed and to entertain us for a while, my sister and I took some pictures of us around.

Poco a poco iba llegando la gente, y también ya estaban instalados varios puestos de comida y bebida, tanto en la plaza como en las calles paralelas a la cancha. El ambiente estaba muy animado gracias a un Dj que estaba poniendo buen rock de diferentes épocas y mezclando con discos de acetato.

Little by little people were arriving, and several food and drink stands were already set up, both in the square and in the streets parallel to the court. The atmosphere was very lively thanks to a DJ who was playing good rock from different eras and mixing it with acetate records.

Nos encontramos con nuestra amiga Betty y su esposo y un rato después, pasadas las 8:00 pm, finalmente comenzó el concierto.

We met up with our friend Betty and her husband and a while later, after 8:00 pm, the concert finally started.

Rock Entre Panas es un evento que este año llegó a su edición número 15, organizado por el músico Fernando Rodríguez, su objetivo es promover las bandas de la ciudad y ofrecerle un espacio al público amante del rock. Es gratuito y la alcaldía del municipio también participa brindando apoyo logístico y la seguridad.

Rock Between Buddies is an event that this year reached its 15th edition, organized by the musician Fernando Rodriguez, its objective is to promote the bands of the city and offer a space to the rock-loving public. It is free of charge and the municipality's mayor's office also participates by providing logistical support and security.

En el cartel figuraban nueve bandas, pero por diferentes motivos, al final se presentaron siete. En este evento no se les paga a las agrupaciones, todo es por amor al rock & roll jejeje. La primera banda que se montó en tarima fue Alpha Centauro, y encendieron al público con clásicos de la década de 1960, como Johnny B. Goode, de Chuck Berry y varios temas de Los Beatles: She Loves You, I Feel Fine, I Saw Her Standing There.

In the announcement there were nine bands, but for different reasons, in the end there were seven. In this event the bands are not paid, it's all for the love of rock & roll hehehe. The first band on stage was Alpha Centauro, and they fired up the audience with classics from the 1960s, such as Chuck Berry's Johnny B. Goode and several songs by The Beatles: She Loves You, I Feel Fine, I Saw Her Standing There.

El volumen estaba súper fuerte, nosotros estábamos primero cerca de una de las cornetas, pero nos movimos hacia el centro, al frente de la tarima, porque el sonido nos retumbaba en el pecho 😅. La banda estuvo una media hora tocando, era más o menos el tiempo estipulado para cada grupo, y luego llegó el turno de Retro 3.

The volume was super loud, we were first near one of the horns, but we moved to the center, in front of the stage, because the sound was booming in our chest 😅. The band played for about half an hour, which was more or less the stipulated time for each group, and then it was Retro 3's turn.

A esta banda ya la había visto antes, tocaron hace unos meses en un parque como parte de las actividades recreativas de una caminata por la montaña, claro, el ambiente era totalmente diferente y fue por la mañana. Me parecieron buenos, sobre todo el guitarrista, creo que puede llegar a ser excelente.

I had seen this band before, they played a few months ago in a park as part of the recreational activities of a mountain hike, of course, the atmosphere was totally different and it was in the morning. I thought they were good, especially the guitarist, I think he could be excellent.

Ellos versionan sobre todo temas del rock en español, de grupos como Maná, Soda Stereo, Zapato 3, Hombres G, entre otros. La verdad estuvo muy entretenido su show, ya la gente había entrado en calor y se sentía la buena vibra en el ambiente.

They mainly cover rock songs in spanish by groups such as Maná, Soda Stereo, Zapato 3, Hombres G, among others. Their show was really entertaining, people had already warmed up and you could feel the good vibe in the atmosphere.

El tercer grupo en montarse en tarima fue La Rockola, era el más esperado porque son muy conocidos en la ciudad, siempre están tocando en los diferentes locales nocturnos y definitivamente se merecen la fama porque dan muy buen espectáculo. El cantante además de buena voz, es bastante histriónico, y eso gusta mucho a la gente.

The third group to take the stage was La Rockola, it was the most expected because they are very well known in the city, they are always playing in different night clubs and definitely deserve the fame because they give a very good show. The singer, besides having a good voice, is quite histrionic, and people like that a lot.

El repertorio de La Rockola es súper variado, va desde artistas muy conocidos como Queen, System of A Down, Hombres G, Soda Stereo, Shakira, y temas de venezolanos como Caramelos de Cianuro, Zapato 3, King Changó, Aditus, Mermelada Bunch, entre otros.

La Rockola's repertoire is super varied, ranging from well-known artists such as Queen, System of A Down, Hombres G, Soda Stereo, Shakira, and songs of Venezuelans such as Caramelos de Cianuro, Zapato 3, King Changó, Aditus, Mermelada Bunch, among others.

Mientras ellos actuaban, apareció un dinosaurio entre el público, ¿no lo creen? Véanlo ustedes mismos… ¡Ese señor se estaba divirtiendo a lo grande con ese disfraz!

While they were performing, a dinosaur appeared in the audience, don't you believe it? See for yourself... That guy was having a blast in that costume!

El turno fue luego para La Hora del Té, no los había visto, suenan muy bien y su presentación combinó canciones de los '90, como Losing my religión de R.E.M., Shine, de Collective Soul y también interpretaron clásicos de los ’60 como Born to be wild (Steppenwolf) o Sympathy for the devil (The Rolling Stones) y de los ’80 como Your love (The Outfield).

The turn was then for La Hora del Té, I hadn't seen them, they sound very good and their presentation combined songs from the '90s, such as Losing my religion by R.E.M., Shine, by Collective Soul and they also interpreted classics from the '60s like Born to be wild (Steppenwolf) or Sympathy for the devil (The Rolling Stones) and from the '80s like Your love (The Outfield).

Luego, cuando ya eran más de las 12:30 de la madrugada, se montaron en tarima los chicos de One Shot, quienes venían de una ciudad cercana, e inmediatamente se desató la revuelta en la cancha, hace tiempo que no veía un pogo en vivo y directo jajaja. Estaba justo detrás de nosotros y tuvimos que apartarnos hacia un lado para evitar que nos golpearan o cayeran encima.

Then, when it was already past 12:30 a.m., the One Shot guys took the stage, who came from a nearby city, and immediately the riot broke out in the court, I haven't seen a live pogo for a long time hahaha. It was right behind us and we had to move to the side to avoid getting hit or falling on us.

Dijeron que apenas tienen dos meses de formados, pero se ve que han ensayado mucho porque suenan muy sólidos. Su show fue pura dinamita, con temas de Molotov, Rage Against The Machine, Blur y otros.

They said they have only been formed for two months, but you can tell they have rehearsed a lot because they sound very solid. Their show was pure dynamite, with songs by Molotov, Rage Against The Machine, Blur and others.

Aquí algunas escenas del pogo, es divertido verlo siempre y cuando no se vuelva violento, afortunadamente nadie salió herido aquí. Hasta un señor mayor participó y cuando se salió dijo orgulloso: “esos chamos no lograron tumbarme” 😂.

Here are some scenes of the pogo, it's fun to watch as long as it doesn't get violent, fortunately no one got hurt here. Even an older man participated and when he left he proudly said: "those boys didn't manage to knock me down" 😂.

Casi a la 1:30 de la madrugada se presentó la gente de Radio Pop, ellos cantaron temas de grupos como Blink 182 y Green Day e hicieron una versión rockera de la famosa gaita venezolana Amparito.

At almost 1:30 a.m., the people from Radio Pop showed up, they sang songs from groups like Blink 182 and Green Day and did a rock version of the famous Venezuelan gaita Amparito.

Y para cerrar, los chicos de Nefastasy se apoderaron del escenario con su heavy metal. A esa hora el clima estaba fresco, soplaba el viento, la luna estaba bien arriba y esas canciones no podían ser más ideales, sonaron temas de Iron Maiden, Marilyn Manson, Mago de Oz, Black Sabbath, entre otras de ese estilo.

And to close, the guys from Nefastasy took over the stage with their heavy metal. At that time the weather was cool, the wind was blowing, the moon was well above and those songs couldn't be more ideal, they played songs by Iron Maiden, Marilyn Manson, Mago de Oz, Black Sabbath, among others of that style.

A pesar de la hora, 2:30 am, la gente no se había ido, y cuando el cantante de la banda se despidió, todos queríamos más, si se hubiesen presentado las otras dos agrupaciones que no pudieron venir, habríamos amanecido allí.

Despite the time, 2:30 am, people had not left, and when the singer of the band said goodbye, we all wanted more, if the other two bands that could not come had performed, we would have been there at dawn.

Para mí fue mi primera vez asistiendo al Rock Entre Panas, el organizador contó que en estos 15 años que llevan haciéndolo, cada edición ha superado a la anterior, y esperan que en 2024 haya mejor logística, se sumen patrocinantes y así poder dar incentivos económicos a las bandas que participen.

For me it was my first time attending Rock Between Buddies, the organizer said that in these 15 years that they have been doing it, each edition has surpassed the previous one, and they hope that in 2024 there will be better logistics, sponsors will join and so they can give economic incentives to the bands that participate.

Y así terminó esta noche de música en vivo que disfruté muchísimo, y nos fuimos de allí caminando. Mi hermana se consiguió a otros amigos que iban hacia la misma zona que nosotras y nos hicimos compañía durante la media hora que duró la caminata, me encantó ir por la ciudad a esa hora. Llegamos a la casa casi a las 3:30 am. ¡Larga vida al rock & roll! Feliz 2024 para todos 😉.

And so ended this night of live music that I enjoyed very much, and we walked out of there. My sister got some other friends who were going to the same area as us and we kept each other company during the half hour walk, I loved walking around the city at that time.
