Elixir – A Post Rock Improvisation

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

Legend has it a secret elixir is stashed in a buried castle on a volcanic mountain in the middle of a dark forest in Europe. Many quests have been made to recover the magical liquid but all of them end in obscurity with all party members disappearing forever into a dark chasm. If you are lucky enough to recover the elixir and drink it, you will have eternal life… Strangely enough there are numerous stone statues surrounding the pedestal where the elixir is exhibited… For sure this time the quest will be successful as they all take a sip of the liquid… Ten seconds later they turn to stone and become another statue in the gallery of the castle. Here they will stay eternally watching as others make the same mistake.

The video was recorded with insta 360 and edited in After Effects with a trippy overlay made frame by frame in Adobe Firefly. Audio was recorded directly with a Zoom H6 and the guitar was reamped with Guitar Rig 7. Drums programmed with an Akai MPK Mini in EZ Drummer 3 using the Post Rock drum library.

That’s all for now, thanks for looking 😊

Hey @sketch.and.jam Wow, your story about the secret elixir is so cool and spooky! The idea of turning into stone statues is really creepy. Anyways I enjoyed the guitar solo with all the middle eastern melody vibe. The video sounds amazing too, with all the editing and music. You put in so much effort, and it really shows. Thanks for sharing this awesome adventure.

Thanks for listening, yeah the stone statue situation would be a terrible fate. This guitar is in the basement of my office so I played whatever came to mind to test it out.

Man, I didn't know you played an instrument, what you've done is very good and also the editing effects in the video. I hope to one day make content like this too when I get my guitar back :)

Have a great week @sketch.and.jam friend!

Oh yeah lots of guitars under my bed lol. I even have a sitar and oud. Haven't recorded as much lately because my toddler wont let me lol. Fortunately there is a guitar at the office to play. Hope you get your guitar back soon, is it acoustic or electric?

Thanks for listening, I wasn't sure if the telecaster could do well with gain but it seems to do ok for light rock.

Wow @sketch.and.jam, I didn't really expect that turn at the end of the story, it was creepy, but also unexpected in a good way. But talking about your solo, it was very good, there were parts that reminded me of big rock hits from the 80's or 90's and your skills to play it were perfect, greetings

Thanks for listening :-) I wish I could play 80s era guitar solos, those are still a bit out of my reach on guitar.

We were just talking in a post about original music on Hive and how we need a way for artists that make original music to create community here and bring more people to enjoy this place.
And here I see another talented musician and many people enjoying a beautiful piece of original music.
We all need this. Original music, well done and engaging for new listeners.

Let's keep this music rolling 🤘🏻
