Wednesday Walk - A Busy Day
Here are a few shots from a busy day for this #wednesdaywalk
We did a quick morning walk around the neighborhood and found some fun things in people's yards. Looks like someone was playing with trolls and a mushroom house here.
Another yard has the start of a peace sign rock formation. Maybe they are still painting the rest of the rocks for the bottom two legs.
Next we rushed off to an outdoor concert. This concert featured a Mongolian Morin Khuur player who can also overtone sing. After the show my wife showed the baby the fiddles. She is always grabbing my guitar strings at home so she instantly wanted to grab the fiddle strings.
Here's one of the songs from the concert.
The concert was at an arboretum so we did quite a bit of walking afterwards. Along this path we found loads of chanterelles.
We found quite a few so I had to dehydrate all the extra mushrooms for use later. We made omelettes and pizza with the fresh ones.
Along the walk we found some wild grapes. I've read about people actually making wine out of these things. Who knows if the wine tastes any good though, could be terrible lol.
The milkweed is blooming nicely. Lots of butterflies are out but this day was rainy and they had to hide.
Fortunately the rain also waterlogged the mosquitos. I suspect millions of mosquitos hatch out of this swamp.
Here is Duchesnea indica aka mock strawberry. Sadly these aren't edible.
They startout as yellow flowers then grow these strawberry formations. I tasted one once but it was bitter and tasted like eating a random leaf off a tree.
Now its time to go grocery shopping. I wish I could have caught the sunset in a more natural setting.
That's all for now, thanks for looking :-)
Dude, this looks like an awesome day!
I made wine last year out of wild grapes. I never did a follow up post, but it came out very tasty!
Ahh I'll have to look at that and try and replicate it. Glad to hear you could get it to work. We have plenty of these wild grapes growing everywhere.
Oh yeah man, easy peasy! If you have any questions feel free to ask and I will help anywhere I’m able. Also, check out the Prison Hooch community if you’re interested in creating wild and delicious fermented beverages. It’s been a while but I’ve put up a few brewing walkthroughs there.
Thanks again @ewkaw :-)
That’s a super cool day love those garden features will be cool to see the finished peace sign
And Eve. If not an ideal setting a beautifully sunset
Thanks for joining Wednesday Walk :),
I end up with lots of parking lot sunset photos but rarely pist any because of the parking lot mess.
Sunset is always amazing!
Oh mosquitos 🦟🦟🦟🦟, there are a lot these days.. sometimes biting me 🤣 so I had to on the electric fan even it's cold because of rain.
Mosquitos are terrible, we need to invent an electric forcefield that fries them.
I like the idea 😁
Wow, a wonderful walk!
It was a pretty fun and busy day.
I see that the day was diverse.
And we barely avoided rain.
Lovely stroll around.
So cool to see the Mongolian instruments.
The mushrooms and berries.
Hahaha grabbing the strings, they can be so interesting. She is growing fast.
Thanks for sharing 😎
Have a great Wednesday 👋🏻😊
I usually sit on the ground playing guitar and she is constantly grabbing strings and turning knobs while I try to play lol.
Really, that’s so cool. Hehehe 🤭
Wait till she want to play on her own. 😎
Sunsets are worth pausing for wherever you find them. Looks like you packed a lot in to Wednesday 🙂
I have quite a few of these sunset pictures where the sky looks good but the surrounding scene is just boring parking lots or strip mall views lol.
