Sitar Saturday - Anoushka Shankar Songs

It's time for another #sitarsaturday featuring my favorite Anoushka Shankar songs.

The first song is Sinister Grains. This one has a nice mysterious vibe to it with some subtle sitar riffs and synths. I was lucky to see this one played live in a small venue and it was amazing.

Indian Summer is a nice complex song showing the versatility of Sitar with a western and eastern classical instrumental vibe. The sitar riffs are nice and fast on this one.

Slither is another one of my favorites due to the complex sitar and use of delay as an effect on the sitar. The drums are also pretty cool on this song.

Happy #sitarsaturday I like the second piece probably just because it sounds more western which I'm more familar with. Shows the range of the sitar being used with those accompanying instruments on that classical feeling song.

When I saw her in concert she was constantly tuning the strings differently for each song. It might have been easier to just have 10 differently tuned sitars for each song. I wish I knew the tuning for that second song.

Oh wow, I didn't know this artist, he has an Arabian touch, I like that... New Artists have been discovered I will investigate more about their music to see how they are. Thank you very much for sharing.

She's the daughter of Ravi Shankar the sitarist who influenced the beetles. Her half sister is also Norah Jones the singer.
