Musical Monday: Tres canciones de gratitud (Spn / Eng)

Greetings on this Monday, September 21, 2026. I hope happiness is a constant in everyone's life this week (and in the weeks to come). Today I want to share three songs of gratitude with you, because gratitude is something valuable in every human life, as it allows us to see the kinder side of the world, even when there are adverse or unpleasant conditions. I have chosen to share them through the MUSICAL MONDAY initiative, a space hosted by @eugelys.
There are songs that make you reflect and feel; music is one of the most powerful ways to experience emotions and to realize certain truths about life—things we often take for granted simply because they are always there. Yet, transience and finitude are inherent to human existence, for nothing is eternal or constant. It is precisely here that GRATITUDE takes center stage, as it enables us to truly value and appreciate the good things, people, and circumstances that accompany us on life's journey.
There are times when we lose sight of GRATITUDE, and this plunges us even deeper into the negative side of life; that is why it is highly recommended to engage in a daily gratitude practice—whether through prayer, writing down reasons to be thankful, expressing it directly (simply saying "thank you"), or valuing and cherishing the things that deserve our appreciation—and, of course, listening to songs that remind us of this beautiful sentiment. With that said, let’s look at my three song choices for today.
Mis canciones para este Musical Monday / My songs for this Musical Monday
I’m kicking off this MUSICAL MONDAY with a song that embodies GRATITUDE in its purest form: "Thank U" by Alanis Morissette. It is a truly beautiful ballad in which gratitude extends not only to the good things but also to the bad. I really like this song—I even owned the CD it was on—and whenever I hear it, I’m reminded that negative experiences also offer something positive for us as human beings. Here is the official music video for the song.
My second song is by the legendary band FLEETWOOD MAC, and it is the beautiful ballad “SONGBIRD”. This song possesses a profound simplicity and is so lovely that it can sometimes bring a tear to my eye—especially given its lyrics, which express nothing but good wishes for a loved one. Here is the audio of this beauty.
And to wrap up this lovely MUSICAL MONDAY, I’ve brought you a song I’ve mentioned before: the beautiful “BEAUTIFUL DAY” by the Irish band U2. This song evokes not only gratitude but also joy and happiness; much like the first song I shared today, it speaks not just of what is beautiful and gentle, but also of what is bad and unpleasant. Ultimately, it is a song that invites reflection, gratitude, and—of course—happiness. Here is the official video.
