Musical Monday: Tres canciones de Gotan Project

Gotan Project hace fundamentalmente tango electrónico, es decir, el tango enriquecido con otros sonidos e instrumentos y variaciones en la base armónica. Este género en su versión tradicional, incluye instrumentos como el bandeón, piano, violin, contrabajo; pero Gotan Project mantiene parte de estos instrumentos, y los enriquece con otros, como teclados, sintetizadores, instrumentos de percusión; también introduce fusiones con ritmos como el hip hop, el jazz, música electrónica, etc., e incluye en muchas de sus producciones la voz de fondo. Recuerdo claramente que la primera vez que oí esta banda, fue en el año 2005. Regresábamos a casa mi amigo y yo, en su vehículo y él colocó un disco compacto de la banda. Al oírla realmente me impactó. Él, viendo mi reacción, gentilmente tomó el cd y me lo obsequió cuando llegamos a casa, y a partir de allí no me cansé de oírlo y de buscar otras producciones de esta banda. Así que aquí les comparto la hermosa “Vuelvo al Sur”, compuesta y escrita por Astor Piazzola, quizás el más grande bandeonista argentino. Gotan Project la versionó, logrando esta belleza. Aquí les comparto una presentación en vivo. El sonido de del bandeón es sublime y la letra creo que nos llega al corazón, especialmente si hemos experimentado de algún modo la migración, sea yéndonos o quedándonos.

Seeing my reaction, he kindly took the CD and gave it to me when we got home, and from then on I never got tired of listening to it and looking for other productions by this band. So here I share with you the beautiful “Vuelvo al Sur”, composed and written by Astor Piazzola, perhaps the greatest Argentine bandeonist. Gotan Project covered it, achieving this beauty. Here I share a live presentation. The sound of the bandeon is sublime and I think the lyrics touch our hearts, especially if we have experienced migration in some way, whether leaving or staying.
