Musical Monday: Guillermo Dávila (Spn / Eng)
Happy Monday, happy week. It's September 2025, and just yesterday, an interesting lunar eclipse occurred, which, by the way, was not seen in Venezuela, a unique and special astronomical phenomenon. Just as the 1980s were unique and special musically in my country, when many singers and bands emerged and created great music that has gone down in history. And today I want to share one of these artists with you, who was very famous in that decade and who inspired many people with his songs. I'm referring to GUILLERMO DÁVILA, from whom I have brought three beautiful melodies to share with you on MUSICAL MONDAY, the wonderful initiative created by @eugelys.
En los 80 ocurrió un fenómeno que para ese momento era inédito: El que los cantantes también fueran actores de telenovelas, y dentro de esta premisa fue que surgió la popularidad de GUILLERMO DÁVILA, quien saltó a la fama gracias a su rol en la telenovela LIGIA ELENA, en donde compartía protagonismo con la excelente actriz ALBA ROVERSI, quien precisamente hacía de LIGIA ELENA, mientras que Dávila era EL MUSIQUITO. Esta telenovela tuvo un éxito rotundo, marcó una era en la televisión y música venezolanas, e impulsó la carrera de este artista, que si bien no era una luminaria o un virtuoso, hacía música bonita y agradable, y aunque no tuviese una voz privilegiada, cantaba bonito. Dicho lo anterior, veamos mis tres canciones de hoy.
In the 80s, a phenomenon occurred that was unprecedented at the time: that singers were also soap opera actors, and within this premise was that the popularity of GUILLERMO DÁVILA arose, who rose to fame thanks to his role in the soap opera LIGIA ELENA, in which he shared the spotlight with the excellent actress ALBA ROVERSI, who precisely played LIGIA ELENA, while Dávila was EL MUSIQUITO. This soap opera was a resounding success, marked an era in Venezuelan television and music, and boosted the career of this artist, who although he was not a luminary or a virtuoso, made beautiful and pleasant music, and although he did not have a privileged voice, he sang beautifully. That being said, let's look at my three songs for today.

The first song I'll share is BARCO A LA DERIVA, a beautiful but sad song. It's beautiful because of its melody and the beauty of its lyrics, which include many metaphors to explain a young woman's personal decline. From my personal perspective, it refers to the wear and tear a girl experiences due to drug addiction. I like this song precisely for that reason, for its poetic beauty and sweetness. My second song for this MUSICAL MONDAY is WHEN LOVE ENDS OUT, another beautiful ballad, written and composed by GUILLERMO DÁVILA. This song is truly beautiful, both musically and lyrically, which obviously reflect sadness, but still retain their elegance. It's a song that helped me get over a heartbreak. Y para cerrar mi MUSICAL MONDAY, comparto la canción que marcó el éxito de GUILLERMO DÁVILA, y es SOLO PIENSO EN TÍ, la cual fue el tema central de la telenovela LIGIA ELENA . A mí esta canción me fascinaba, (aún me gusta mucho), y digamos que fue el soundtrack de uno de mis noviazgos adolescentes más importantes. Y es que yo también tuve mi Musiquito personal. Por aquí les dejo una presentación que hizo Guillermo Dávila en un programa de televisión (Sábado Sensacional).
And to close my MUSICAL MONDAY, I share the song that marked the success of GUILLERMO DÁVILA, and it is SOLO PIENSO EN TÍ, which was the central theme of the soap opera LIGIA ELENA. I fascinated myself with this song (I still like it a lot), and let's say it was the soundtrack of one of my most important teenage relationships. Hola @sirenahippie, ¡espero que estes bien! Cuando comencé a leer tu publicación inmediatamente me vino a la mentes "Me pongo a pintarte y no lo consigo", jajaja los que vivimos en esa década en Venezuela definitivamente conocemos esas canciones y también esa Novela y tantas otras que se producían en el país, se nos cayó la cédula. Solo queda el recuerdo de todo aquello, y pensar que a pesar de su edad Guillermo Dávila, aun se conserva muy bien 😜.
Jajajajajaja, ciertamente se nos cayó la cédula, pero a Dios gracias que aún con años, estamos vivas, y podemos recordar esas hermosas canciones y esas buenas telenovelas, aunque en honor a la verdad, yo siempre he sido poco novelera, pero Ligia Elena era imposible no verla. Y coincido contigo, Guillermo Dávila, aún con sus 70 años, se mantiene de buen ver.

Es que la música de los 80 como que fue producto de una explosión galáctica, energética, dimensional... no sé, fue algo fuera de serie, muy variada, de gran calidad y estupenda.
Guillermo Dávila aún cuando no tenía una voz espectacular, hacía música muy bonita, me alegra que aprecies este contenido.
