My 7 favorites latinoamerican rock and metal bands

-7. 1280 Almas:
Known for mixing ska, punk, alternative rock and post-hardcore, with protest lyrics expressing discontent with society and politics. They were formed in 1992 in the city of Bogotá, releasing legendary albums such as "Háblame de Horror" and "La 22". I like how they vary the genres of their songs, but almost always maintaining their critical stance. My favorite songs are "Surfiando en Sangre" and "Rata Muerta".

-6. Molotov:
Maximum kings of irreverent music. Formed in 1995 in Mexico City, they have maintained a fairly stable formation, and always with lyrics full of humor, vulgarity and social criticism, reasons why they have been subject to censorship and controversy. They stand out for mixing several styles, such as hip-hop, metal, punk, funk, etc. One of the things I like most about this band is that they use two basses. My favorite songs are "Que no te Haga Bobo Jacobo" and "Dance and Dense Denso".

-5. La Pestilencia:
"Soldado Mutilado Hijuep*ta". Formed in 1986 in Bogotá, they have become the most influential hardcore punk band in Colombia. They were at the forefront of the punk and undreground metal movement in this country thanks to their powerful sound and lyrics that spit on the government and society of the time. My favorite songs are "Carne Molida" and "Soldado Mutilado".

-4. Perpetual Warfare:
They started in 2006 in Bogota, with a strong thrash metal proposal and lyrics that harshly criticize the government and raise their fist for the metal brotherhood. They have an excellent staging and one of my favorite band mascots, Mr. F*ck you, which represents all the corruption and evils of Colombian society. My favorite songs are "Las Venas Abiertas..." and "Cleptocracia".
(In a previous post I did a review of this band's album "Earthlines", if you are interested in reading it, here is the link: https://peakd.com/hive-164411/@simonrojas1105/colombian-metal-review-earthlines-by-perpetual-warfare.)

-3. Sepultura:
Formed in Belo Horizonte, Brazil, they started in 1984 with an innovative proposal, with an extreme sound that had not been seen until then, opposing the popular Brazilian music of that time and lyrics ranging from religious blasphemy to politics, they managed to influence the future sound of death and black metal. Although their sound took a radical change with "Roots" towards nu-metal and they haven't managed to stand out much after Max Cavalera's departure from the band, we can still enjoy great works like "Araise" and "Beneath The Remains", whose sound has been recovered by the band "Cavalera Conspiracy", which I also highly recommend. My favorite songs are "Lobotomy" and "R.I.P. (Rest In Pain).

-2. Hermética:
After the split of the legendary band V8, bassist Ricardo Iorio formed this band in 1987 in Buenos Aires, with a thrash metal oriented sound and excellent lyrics written by Iorio, being one of the most important bands for Latin American metal. They split up in 1994, but their legacy is still intact. My favorite songs are "Gil Trabajador" and "La Revancha de América".

-1. Masacre:
Colombia lived a tense and dangerous environment at the end of the 80's, in this context this band was born in Medellin in 1988, with a raw, brutal and direct sound, but with excellent arrangements and lyrics that until now perfectly reflect the condition in which the band was living. They have left us with excellent albums such as "Reqviem" and "Muerte Verdadera Muerte" and have shared the stage with bands such as Napalm Death and Kreator. My favorite songs are "Razones de Odio" and "Conflicto de Paz".
