Sometimes You Just Gotta Let it Go! ... Inspired by Music.
Has there ever been a time when you felt that the words of a song were directed to your very soul?
Yeah! That is the power of music.

This makes it possible for it to touch us at our core, bring back memories, stir up emotions or even provide comfort during hard times. One such song that has profoundly touched my heart is "Let Her Go" by Passenger.
The moment I heard "Let Her Go" with its haunting melody and touching lyrics, I was hooked. It felt as if the singer was telling my own story back to me; depicting the trials and tribulations plus pain and agony associated with accepting the loss of someone so close to one’s heart.
To me this song isn’t just about losing love, it’s about grappling with change that is inevitable in all things and learning how to let go of what we can no longer hang onto. It’s coming into bitter sweetness over the fact, sometimes we have to let go for them to be loved best; even if this means sacrificing our own dreams and hopes.
A certain period of time in my life was one where I held onto a relationship that was slowly disintegrating right before my eyes.
In spite of the fractures and the increasing space between us, I had the hope that things would just mend themselves, like magic.
Yeah! What we all feel most of the times
However, as days turned into weeks and weeks into months, it dawned on me that I was only delaying the obvious thing from taking place.
I feared telling myself the truth; maybe it is time for me to let her go.
The universe seemed to be gently pushing against me with ‘let her go’ as its theme song during this tumultuous period, encouraging me to confront my phobias about change and accept them as inevitable parts of life. The lines:
“Only know you’ve been high when you’re feeling low, Only hate the road when you’re missin’ home,”
touched something deep within me reminding me of how love has its ups and downs and how painful holding onto something that no longer belongs is.
When I kept on playing the song, I thought about love and its nature and how it is concept of acceptance and letting go.
True love is not about owning someone or holding them tightly, instead it means respecting their paths and giving them space to grow even if it means not being part of their lives anymore.
It’s never easy to let go. It requires one to be brave, patient as well as surrendering to the tide of life.
My ability to slowly let go off my beloved created room for personal growth for both her and I, leading to self-acceptance that was followed by tranquility which had never existed before in my life.
Therefore, if you find yourself lost in a dead relationship, I suggest simply listening to the ‘Let her Go’ with an open heart; allow the sad melody sink in you. You are allowed to feel pain and longing but at the same time you must be optimistic since there is still a chance of starting afresh beyond every new horizon.
Don’t forget that, letting go, is not a proof of weakness; rather it shows self-love and kindness. It’s about recognizing your own importance and considering the independence of the person you care for even if it involves saying goodbye.
Additionally, know that as you start to let go, you are not alone. There are so many others who have gone through this way before you and there will be others after you. Accordingly, keep the memories; cherish every moment shared but believe in beginning again afresh plus all its possibilities.
In conclusion “Let Her Go” reminds us that love does not possess or hold on; it releases and allows the other person to find their own road though it takes them away from us.
Maybe in detaching we can find ourselves loving more than any other – ourselves and a fearless embracing of the unknown at large.
