Soul Tunes

Initially this was meant to be my topic for last week but due to prolly tiredness (tbh can't remember anymoreπŸ˜…), but here I am posting it today and it still hits so hard if I do say so myself πŸ˜ƒ

Soul Music in actuality is a genre of music in and of itself, meant to show music that is rich in early Black American Christianity.
These type of songs were characterized by it's wholesome tunes and rich instruments, songs made to overcome the hardships of those days, made to make you dance, flow with the music regardless of your situation.
Songs to uplift your soul...

I used this criteria to pick my songs, these are songs that are guaranteed to make you nod your head, hum to yourself or just put a smile no matter what you're doing or feeling now.πŸ™‚

Believer ~ Imagine Dragons

For my first tune in this list, I go to one of the first songs I ever remember listening to in my early teens.
Believer, is such a song that many are going to hum to without knowing the true lyrics within the song because of its upbeat attitude.
It tells a story of a man who finally understands his pain and decides to face it, understanding how the pain had caused most bad things in his life and how it has also helped him too, he decides to find a way to control it.

When I'm Gone - The Carter Family

Now most folks would hear this song and first think of The Cup Song. Although it isn't a remix, in fact what we know as the Cup Song is just a remake of the song When I'm Gone sang by the Carter family.
In actuality the song wasn't written by them but was collected.
A.P Carter was a song collector and he traveled all over the southwestern Virginia area in search for new songs... A link if you would want to read more about them...

Wade in the Water

Now this has to be one of the most commonly known soul song out there.
Believed to be made in the early 1900's by slave fighters, to help remind them to follow the oath with water in it as the Slave master's dogs can't pick up the scent washed with water.

Now it has transformed to something more than just a warning song, standing as a proud relic of the time.
It has a lot of remixes and I tried but I couldn't find a recording of the original song.
The closest I could find though was a jazz Performance of Ramsey Lewis, still mighty good πŸ˜ƒβœ¨, would put this here for @agmoore and any other jazz lover who may come across my blog.

I did infact find a certain remix that I did like...
The guitars and leads were specially electrifying 😊. Although like most of Rens busking sessions, it's 3 songs combined in oneπŸ˜…(hope it still qualifies as an entry πŸ₯Ί)

And that's it for my 3 tunes this week
Lovely songs for a weary soul✨
As normal I would have to tag our lovely Irish golfing ear @ablaze for a wonderful initiative every tuesday.

Till my next blog ✨

You made me truly happy with these songs. First, I love playing Beat Sabre to Believer - it's the best song for that game. And your second song is right up my alley; I love sharing songs from that era. So much emotion to them.

Hello you :)

I'm so sorry been so quiet. I had to do some administrative stuff. Online less now. Long story.

I'm glad I caught this! πŸ‘€

Believer is a great song. 😌

When I'm gone...

I know this one!

It also sounds really similar to another tune I love. I only realized right now when I heard this version, by the Carters, that you shared.

D'ya like jazz?

I don't have time for enough music right now so have bookmarked. First part sounds beautiful and soul fulfilling. Or is it "filling". Also. Tbh. I don't like jazz that much :/

Although Otis Redding is one of my favorite artists and I owned a full collection of his on CD. once upon a life ago. But I love Soul and he's a the Soul man. Big time! πŸ”₯❀️

And Ren and the boys. Omg. This guy tho.

Only one track tho? But I could be mistake. As always. I could totally watch them play for hours and hours.

Everyone likes the song believers πŸ˜ƒπŸ”₯, it's fire πŸ”₯

I do actually like jazz, although I don't know much artists from it still learning and picking up bits and pieces from @agmoore πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚...
I guess I like funk jazz.

I could listen to Ren busk with his mates for hoursπŸ₯Ίβœ¨

Nice one man, I liked all of these soul tunes, as you call them, Wade in the Water most certainly the pick of the bunch for me, and Ren and co did a mighty job covering it too..
