Psychodrama
It feels like it's been so long since I did a three tunes tuesday post, but here I am again.
Dave is an artist I was fairly aware of and someone whose full discography I've listened to several times because of how small it is.
Despite it being small, unlike other artists of his age range, it's packed back-to-back with bangers.
His debut album in particular is one that didn't miss, and is where I'll bring my three tunes of the day.
Psychodrama is the debut album by Dave, and its themes range from his experiences as a black man in London, mental health, racism, and his brother's incarceration.
There are loads of banger songs, but I'll talk about these 3 just because I have an idea for so many other songs here.
Disaster feat J. His
This song is one of the most surprising cause it seems that when the song was released, Hus was in prison for carrying a 10cm blade.
It was later revealed that he recorded his verse in prison, and in a way it goes to add a spice to this track because of its themes about street life and loyalty.
It's a song where you'll just sit and soliloquize about what all these things are worth.
It mixes lyrical eloquence, a great calm melody, and a rap aura that draws your attention while it paints a story.
Environment
In this verse, Dave raps about his environment growing up and how it changed him.
The way he thinks, acts, and moves has been influenced by it and by the fellow people who stayed in it with him.
The calm melody of the piano that accompanies his voice makes it seem like he's remembering or we're following a flashback.
It's just that vivid.
Voices
This is one track where Dave shows his lyrical mastery.
The fact that he can personify different feelings and add them to the song and still use them to pass a message to his romantic interest.
It's a simple song, yet it's so loud and underrated cause of its simplicity; you just have to hear it.
And that's that. I do hope I remember to come back to this album to talk about the rest of the songs later on in life.
Cause there are concepts in my head right now!!!
