One Republic

Listening to this band is actually a funny story. One that started from a very core and primal emotion. One that's in every one of us and can only be used in its purest of forms.

Hate

The scenario was just the second week of the BTS album release and when all the girls were going crazy.
I had a quick listen to one of the songs and I totally didn't get the hype.

Maybe I missed my shot of the purple brainwashing potion.

Regardless, the lass got annoyed and defensive, then went on to say that BTS is the best boy group ever and quite frankly, that angered something in me.

Regardless, back at the time of this chat thread, I was just trolling. Then out of curiosity, I decided to actually give One Republic a chance..

And boy o boy, BTS should get down please 😭

Dreaming Out Loud

I've listened up to their third album at this point and I've come across loads, and I mean loads of beautiful songs. If you follow my X or Twitter, you'd see that I had posted about it.
Yet, I decided to restrict my 3 picks to just the first album for this time. Then I'll go to the next album another time.

The good thing about One Republic, is their cinematic feel and somehow magical approach to music. One in which every sound carries an emotion or memory and every note has an intent.
It's in that key that this song stuck with me so well.

Mercy

When ones dealing with exhaust and that feeling of hitting rock bottom, we all need a second chance. A way for us to just get out of that dump and back into the world.
Sometimes it's a person, or a pet, most times it could just be a black stone on a sandy beach.

Goodbye Apathy

Mercy was the call for help and this is the realization that it won't come unless you make the moves yourself.
I love the slow and steady buildup for the song and the lyrics. Things won't get better untill you lose the vibe that it has nothing to do with you.
Give it a listen and give yourself a shot in the arm, go out and make moves, don't be apathetic.

Come Home

Now I feel that for this one I don't really need to explain it that much, it's pretty self explanatory.
A song about loss and waiting. It's soft, sad, painful—excruciating maybe—and real.
It's something that so many people had experienced but maybe some didn't have the correct words to voice their thoughts..
Well now you do..

It was a vibe listening to this band considering back then I only sometimes heard their songs on the radio or some television shows.
In fact, it's still a pleasant surprise when I come across one of their songs and I'm like..
I know this song!!

Regardless, that's it from me for #threetunestuesday @ablaze. I'm pretty sure you've heard a few of these ones.
