Omah Lay for TTT

Omah Lay is one Nigerian artist whose songs have always been within my reach but I've never reached out to get it and listen... At least until last week.
After listening, I confirmed what I had been thinking of for quite some time...

His tune is truly my vibe...

I'm not really one who loves Nigerian artists as I see their musical tastes as one without a voice, always singing about women, big booty and their financial prowess.

At least that's until Burna and the New generation came along.
Now Nigerian music has been diversified into different classifications.
Different artists singing about their different views instead of following just one particular trend about love for women, money and big booty.

The love for big bumbum in Nigerian songs were deeply rooted.

In the beginning of my teen years, different artists were popping out of thew Nigerian soil and two of the most popular were Rema and Omah Lay..
Both singing about women and love.
Rema went off, diversifying and going to experiment in different genres.

Yet Omah Lay stayed back, perfecting his one genre and topic, making his own sound and voice, and now, I've found a Nigerian artist who sings about love, feelings and women, without me grating my teeth and closing my ears.
His voice , tunes, beats and sounds really gives the songs true purpose, they make you want to listen to his story.

Holy Ghost

Definitely my best song of his and arguably one of the best song this gifted musician has produced.
In this song, Omah Lay talks about the spiritualism that follows indulging in physical emotion. The terms "Holy Ghost Fire" and "Supernatural" shows a person consumed by a force when they are about to indulge in things that gives strong emotions.
He chooses to indulge in love for a woman and his music in the hope that it brings him happiness.

Blasphemous?

Maybe 10%... But it's way better than what others have been singing...
The beat and tune really pulls this song together and the vocals...

You can't help but to get up and dance.

So So

Just like this artists fickle emotions, we've moved from a love story to a spiritual high life call for help.
From his album, Boy Alone, this time topped the Nigerian musical charts and put his fans, and non fans on a solemn mood as they listen to this masterpiece.
This song and video made fans put on their thinking caps as they tried to understand what it meant and what it's place was in the album.
After a few weeks, Omah Lay himself came out to clear the mystery.
Soso could mean anything and or nothing. Anything that helps you clear your head and takes away your pain.
Drugs, drinks, alcohol, family, money, or a girl.
To him in particular, Soso was a girl.

I'm a Mess.

I'mma end this entry with a tune that's incredibly different from the rest.
Omah Lay in this song uses a soft guitar tune to pour his heart out on his struggles with heartbreak, alcohol and depression.
It was a bold step made by him as he came out bare showing his pain and it is a tune that speaks to those who are suffering from depression. The music video as always with him goes perfectly with the theme of the song.
Perfectly showing scenes that helps picture what he's trying to say.
