Independence HPUD

Its been almost a decade since I've experienced a well celebrated independence day.
It seems like with every year Nigeria ages she becomes more and more like an old woman, tired of all the celebrations and parties of her youths and eventually forgetting her birthday except there's some kind of notification or message.

Independence day is still a National holiday, but unlike other holidays there's nothing jolly about it.
No noise, no shows just another weekend type day.
For me, this is the calm before the storm of academic war. My exams are starting tomorrow and like every warrior before a battle, I am feeling a little nervous.

Regardless, I'm not one to normally talk about the icky stuff called feelings so I'll do something else this Tuesday on here.
Lets see which Three tunes I can bring here.

Whiskey ~ Burna Boy

This is one song that I feel fits this independence day.
The song talks about the woes of the regular people, their problems wether caused by location, those above them, those below them and themselves.
Problems ranging from soothe to religion to lack of jobs, price of fuel and flooding.
The chorus and name of the song symbolizes how people use drinking as a way of dealing with those problems.

Suffering and Schmilling ~ Fela

This is a song of problems that I've already shared earlier this year when I was going through a Fela phase..
I loved the fast beat and instruments in the song, normally almost all of Fela's songs are like this but this one especially was fun.
Quite crazy how the problems of Fela time are almost identical to the problems Nigeria is still having now...

IDK ~ Wizkid ft Zlatan

I wanted to end my #ttt with a party type of vibe today and it's genuinely been a while since I listened to Wizkid so I brought the song I liked most from his EP.
It's just a chill party vibe.

Eating moi moi and garri with this song busting up the speakers.
Quite a nice independence day.
