Do Road Mi 🎶🛣️

Well this is one piece of architecture straight out of a place of magic.✨
Like the singing bridges in fairytales, we now have the musical roads 😃 ..

At first when I read it, I didn't believe it...
Then when I heard it...😃

I still couldn't believe it😭😭

How can slabs of concrete make such beautiful sounds?....

Is what I asked myself...

I had to go investigate🕵️‍♂️

untitled.gif

After some internet searchs and clicks I found out that it's actually a rather simple yet complex piece of work.

You see this roads have small concrete ridges cut into them, in which when the car tires drive through at a certain speed, it causes a vibration or rumbling that is audible enough to be heard inside the car and the surrounding areas. A note is produced by varying the spacing of strips in, or on, the road.
These series of not causing strips are then arranged in a form of musical tune.

An example...👨‍🏫

An E note requires a frequency of around 330 vibrations a second. Therefore, strips 2.4 in (61 mm) apart will produce an E note in a vehicle travelling at 45 mph (72 km/h).

At the time of my writing, I have managed to search and listen to numerous musical roads, including those in California, Japan, and Hungary.
Although I've read that there are plenty more musical roads, including some that had been lost. (Probably due to road breakdown)

Of the 3 musical roads I've listened to and from my search, I believe the Hungarian musical roads to be the most clear.

The Hungarian Asphaltophone

Road 37 in northeastern Hungary is a favorite drive-by spot for tourist's because of the melodious voice it has.
Connecting the towns Sátoraljaújhely and Felsőzsolca on the Hungarian-Slovakian border, the road drives through the famous Tokaj Wine region.
In this region, on the same road, between the towns of Gesztely and Szerencs, on a stretch, the Hungarian Folk song Érik a szőlő (The Grapes are getting Ripe) can be heard when your car drives through at 80km/hr. If you drive any faster or slower, the tune would be distorted or dulled.
Have a listen 😃🎶

Gats love that Doppler's effect 😃✨🎶

Hungary has Another Older Musical Road Though 🛣️....

It's first musical road was built in the southern Somogy County on the highway 67 which connects the towns Balatonszemes and Szigetvár.
A 500 meter stretch of the road between the Mernye village and Mernyeszentmiklós, is when the ridges are located. One which when you car drives through it at 80km/hr, the melody of the song "A 67-es út" can be heard beautifully.
The song was originally sung by a well known Hungarian rock band, 'Republic' and the road is meant to be a memorial to the band's leader László Bódi aka Cipő
Lend it an ear 😃 ...

Although I should press on the fact that there are other Musical roads, including the first musical road made in Denmark.
I just prefer the Hungarian roads, because of its clarity and more audible tunes🎶

What about you?
Have you driven on any of such musical roads?🛣️...

Omg, it is wonderful. I know there are stairs like pianos in the capital city of Turkey-Ankara. Here you can watch.
