TTT - Remember Wishbone Ash?
Hello music lovers! 🎵
It's Tuesday, time for #threetunetuesday, and a chance for me to share something I'm listening to.
My last post here was last year, more precisely two weeks ago, we pass all celebrations now and we're back to business as usual.
In today's post I'm going back to guitar music and a band that I saw live once, in Belgrade, in 1982, and that evokes fond memories of my youth. Yes, back then bands still had melodies and guitars sounded glorious. Of course, this is very subjective :)
Wishbone Ash is an English rock band that started playing in 1969 and I think they are still playing now, but not as intensely as they used to.
They are mainly known for the fusion of the sound of the two guitarists Andy Powell and Ted Turner and with their specific style at that time they influenced many generations of younger guitarists.
For those of you who are not (yet) familiar with #threetunetuesday or #ttt - these are tags you need to set when you post.
It's a music initiative started by @ablaze, and with his words, the jist is as follows:
Every Tuesday I'm going to share 3 songs that I like to listen to and I invite your feedback in the comments below. Better still, why not have a blast of your own Three Tune Tuesday and mention me in the post and I'll come and find the post and upvote it. If you could also use #threetunetuesday tag that would be great, as that is what I use when sifting through all the entries every Wednesday. It'll be a sweet way for us all to discover new music. You'll also be in with a chance of winning the reward.
So, to continue with the music, I've picked out a few clips.
Wishbone Ash - The King Will Come
After all these years, this song still sounds epic to me. It was released in 1972 on Argus, it was Wishbone Ash's third album and their biggest commercial success, I think it was even voted album of the year 1972. The lyrics of the whole album are in a medieval style and this song is about the coming of the King after the Day of Judgement who will save the chosen ones.
Wishbone Ash - Lady Whiskey
The song Lady Whiskey is from their first album Wishbone Ash in 1970. A classic rhythm and blues that caught the attention of music critics and in the years that followed they toured as the opening act for Deep Purple.
Wishbone Ash - Throw Down the Sword
And one live recording from a concert in Germany last January, the picture and sound are very clear. This song is also from the 1972 Argus album, but one of the founding members, guitarist Ted Turner, has been replaced by Mark Abraham since 2017.
And, of course, a bonus :).
Wishbone Ash - We Stand As One
This is actually the only official video I could find, and it's for their latest album Coat Of Arms, their twenty-third in a row, released in February 2020.
That's all for today, thank you for your attention.
I hope today's selection has put you in a relaxed mood like me :)
This is my 30th post for #threetunetuesday, which was started by @ablaze. I hope what I'm sharing is interesting for others too, because then it makes sense.
