New Tunes 8.8.2025
Hello music lovers! 🎶
It's the second Friday in August, I'm chilling in the shade by the sea, along with #newtunes, a light, summery, and fresh selection of new songs, this time by more well-known artists.
Who knows, maybe something is outstanding and worthy of your attention.
Eight songs of different genres. If you are interested in something fresh and have time, you can spend it listening to it.
And if you like it, I will be happy to have shared it with you!
If you don't like something, skip it.

Pulp - Got to Have Love
Pulp is a British band from Sheffield that traces its roots back to 1978. During their prosperous career, they have released eight albums and won numerous music awards. Their new album, More, was released two months ago, but before that, they had been silent for twenty-four years. I agree with music critics that the album is very good and the song Got to Have Love is a good example of a comeback.
IDLES - Rabbit Run
Idles is an indie, post-punk band from Bristol. They have been performing since 2009 and have won numerous music awards. They have released five albums, the latest being Tangles, which came out last year.
The song Rabbit Run is new and featured on the soundtrack for the film Caught Stealing, directed by Darren Aronofsky, which will be released at the end of August.
Kula Shaker - Broke As Folk
Kula Shaker is an English band that has been around since 1993. After 2004, they took a break for a few years and then started again in 2007. They have released seven albums, the latest being Natural Magic last year. Perhaps a little underrated.
The song Broke As Folk is a new single, a preview of a new album, who knows? It has a very Pink Floyd-esque intro, which continues in the style of The Doors' organ.
The Limiñanas - The Dancer
The Limiñanas is a French indie, garage, psychedelic rock duo that has been active since 2009. They only gained wider recognition after 2016. They have released nine albums, the latest being Faded, in April this year.
The song The Dancer is a tribute to their late friend, the actor Foulques de Boixo.
Kim Deal - Are You Mine
Kim Deal, legendary bassist from The Pixies, later performed with The Breeders, and Bossanova and Trompe le Monde. Her first and last solo album, Nobody Loves You More, was released the previous year.
The song Are You Mine is from this album and was recently performed live in Greenwich Village with friends.
My Morning Jacket - I Can Hear Your Love
My Morning Jacket is an American band from Louisville. They have been performing since 1998 and have released ten albums to date, the latest being Is, released in March this year. I mentioned them back then, with their excellent hit Everyday Magic.
A week ago, they released a new video for the song I Can Hear Your Love. Romantic and sweet, just right for summer days.
Buddy Guy - Blues Chase The Blues Away
At 89 years old, Buddy Guy is the last active Chicago blues musician. Ain't Done with the Blues, released a week ago, is his twentieth album. He has released just as many in collaboration with other well-known musicians.
A true classic for blues fans.
Little Simz - Young
Simbiatu Abisola Abiola Ajikawo, known in the music world as Little Simz, is a successful English rapper with six albums and several NME music awards to her name.
Her latest album, Lotus, was released two months ago, and the songs are now climbing the music charts.
🎶That's all for today, and enjoy your weekend with new songs!

I like the melodies. I don't understand them because I don't speak the language.

I'm glad you like melodies. All these are various English slang, some of them I also don't understand either :)

If you had started with Buddy Guy, that would have been my goal too!
But then there was Pulp, who seem to me to be too focused on finding a stadium anthem.
The Idles sum it up perfectly – it's peak season for pied pipers in the universe of the bored!
As for Kula Shaker, it should be noted that borrowing from Pink Floyd is not a serious offense. But then serving up a bad stew that would have killed Jim Morrison all over again, that hurts.
Kim Deal—if sad emotions are looking for a home, then they've come to the right place. Applause!
Did someone serve Morning Jacket too much Simply Red?
Yes, agree with all, I'm listening to this on the beach 😎 with cold beer in hand 🍻
