Peter Gabriel - Panopticom (Dark Side Mix)

Peter Gabriel is, I believe, a well-known name to all music lovers, so I wouldn't mention him too much. Incidentally, I have already published this song as a Bright Side Mix earlier this year, and now I am repeating it in a Dark Side Mix version. It's from the last I/O album which was released on December 1st this year, in Bright and Dark Side, so you can compare them.
This Dark Side Mix has a touch of the past, it has touches of current trends, it brings a handful of fine harmonies, and it hints at what its musical future might surprise us with.
If anyone is more interested in the details of the video, it was made by Vnderworld, a well-known NFT artist, with the help of StabilityAI.

LENHART TAPES: Vodu brala

Lenhart Tapes is an avant-garde music project from Belgrade, Serbia, which, under the leadership of producer Vladimir Lenhart, creates a unique blend of ethno-noise sounds. Dens is the title of his second album, where he innovatively reworks, mixes, samples, distorts, and reinterprets forgotten Balkan musical traditions.
Some might even call this mix of sounds, turbo-folk, which in these parts of the world is a label for the lowest level of primitive and very popular music, but this is not the case. The name of the song, Vodu brala, in English, means 'She was taking the water'.
The production reflects a strong artistic stance by combining industrial rhythmic loops, analog samples, and traditional folk songs, proving how multifaceted and timeless folk music traditions can be.

Dan D - Dekle moje

One piece of news from home :)
Vlado Kreslin is one of the most listened-to Slovenian music authors and composers. He recently turned 70 and to celebrate his anniversary, national TV organized a concert called Izštekanih 10 2023 (in English Unplugged 10 2023), where various Slovenian musicians performed his songs. The whole concert was excellent in every way, maybe I'll post more here later.
Dekle moje is one of his very popular songs, in English it means 'My Girl', I can also say that it has become a folk song, it was arranged by the band Dan D.
I found it the most suitable for the presentation.

ZA! & la TransMegaCobla - Baal Hammon

Project ZA! & la TransMegaCobla is an avant-garde Catalan band consisting of progressive rock duo guitarist and bassist ZA! from Barcelona, the quartet of dancing woodwind players Mega Cobla, and the prefix trance is represented by the folk duo Tarta Relena, two female vocalists exploring Mediterranean vocal music. A supergroup that cannot be defined by a genre, you could say. Certainly something new for me too.
The octet has managed to combine its Mediterranean roots into playful forms that are not only performed at the highest level but also sound fresh and punchy. The level of improvisation and arrangement of the pieces easily ranks among the top of what Europe has to offer in world music, perhaps even jazz, although the music is a shade too folksy to be recognized as jazz.
The album of the same title as the band was released this May, this video recording is from the summer of 2021 in Barcelona, chosen because it visually represents this group.

Butcher Brown - Espionage featuring Charlie Hunter

Butcher Brown is a jazz quintet from Virginia, USA. They have been performing together since 2013, a little over 10 years, with 5 EPs and 8 albums in their collection. From the beginning, they have been creating a fusion of jazz, hip-hop, funk, and everything in between.
The album Solar Music, released in October this year, explores this blend in even more detail, creating through improvisation and collaboration with guest musicians a perfect and tightly controlled chaos that just few bands can finish successfully.
From this album, I chose the song Espionage which I felt belonged in a Bond-like movie.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Igralom - Kralj

Igralom is a Serbian trio from Niš, formed in 2016. A new name for me. They recently released their third album Premalim stvarima (in English Smaller Things). Creatively, the band combines rock'n'roll and world music, mainly Saharan blues and Eastern melos wrapped in Americana.
Minimalist, at times harsh guitar constructions are softened by delicate vocals, combining play and chaos into a pleasant and listenable beat that has a certain charm. The title of the song 'Kralj' means King in English.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Crime & the City Solution - Brave Hearted Woman

Crime & the City Solution is an Australian rock band, formed in 1977. I first saw them in Wenders film 'The Sky Over Berlin', where we see them at a concert in a strange club. The other band there was Birthday Party with Nick Cave, who later became one of the greatest musicians of our time. I kind of lost focus of them later on.
Crime & the City Solution have had their ups and downs, they have broken up several times, most recently reunited in 2012 and this year, after ten years, they released their new album Killer, which received a very positive response from critics and audiences alike.
Otherwise, I've read that Nick Cave and Simon Bonney, the frontman, are supposedly friends from their youth. The members of the two bands have also alternated, they say.

Judas Priest - Trial By Fire

Judas Priest, who doesn't know this world-famous metal band? Nine days ago, they released the official video for the song Trial By Fire, which will be featured on their new, upcoming album Invisible Fire, due out in February next year.
Heavy Metal in Pro. Is anything special new, or anything else that should be mentioned? Not really. They are continuing on their marked path.

🎶That's all for today, enjoy in #newtunes!
I hope you liked something, and thank you for your attention.

One thing I love about these songs is that they captured my soul even though the genre is not what I really listen to
I love that!

I just concentrate on the whipped cream. Why bother with dry dough when the best is on top?

Dan D - Dekle moje
From Maribor (Beltinška Banda) to Novo Mesto doesn't seem like a long journey- at least musically. Definitely worth listening to!

LENHART TAPES: Vodu Brala
Where would the crème de la crème of YU music have ended up if it hadn't been for the traditional music that prepared the ground for them? Great interpretation.

Igralom - Kralj
You really have to listen very carefully to this one. But that's why our ears were glued to our heads!
