Hello music friends! 🎶

Friday is here! And #newtunes, fresh music selection, too.
I've been listening to a lot of music this week, both at work and on the road. And if you want to hear what's been left in my ears, you can listen to it now.

Eight songs of different genres. Lesser-known musicians than the famous ones. Just by listening to them, you will give support. Each listening counts!
And if you don't like something, feel free to skip it.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Oddisee - Tomorrow Can't Be Borrowed

Oddisee, whose real name is Amir Mohamed el Khalifa, is a producer and MC from Washington. He has been making music since 2010 and has signed 15 albums. The latest release is the EP En Route, which was released last week - a cool, easy-listening rap in a soulful style.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Alan Sparhawk with Trampled by Turtles - Get Still

Alan Sparhawk, founder of Low in the 1990s, picked up the guitar again after a 30-year hiatus and released an album of the same name with the folk band Trampled by Turtles, dedicated to his late wife.
Warm melodies and very dynamic acoustics.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Ty Segall - Shining

Ty Segall is an American multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, and composer who has released seventeen albums since 2008, most recently last week's Possession.
Indie rock, with a classic touch and good production, is very catchy.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Obongjayar - Sweet Danger

Steven Umoh, who performs under the name Obongjayar, a Nigerian artist living and working in London since 2020, released his second album, Paradise Now, last week. It's a new name for me.
Interesting and luxurious soul-like vocals, backed by an electronic beat. I will follow him.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Aesop Rock - John Something

Aesop Rock is Ian Bavitz, MC and producer from Long Island, New York. He has thirty years of experience working and collaborating with many musicians. His latest album, Black Hole Superette, was released last week and is considered by many to be one of his highlights, boasting exceptional production, intricate beats, and expansive and profound lyrics.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Lung - The Mattress

Lung is an American duo from Cincinnati that has been performing since 2017 and has just released its fifth album, The Swankeeper.
Their specialty is creating rhythmic and melodic noise, where singer and classically trained cellist Kate Wakefield uses distorted pedals, synths, and amps backed by percussion from Daisy Caplan, former bassist of Foxy Shazam. It all sounds very alternative, listenable, and fresh.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Dina Jashari - Gradot

Dina Jashari is a young Macedonian singer from Skopje who started her musical career by winning the Milan Mladenovic Competition (EKV) in Belgrade in 2021. Since then, she has opened doors everywhere in the Balkans. Although she has been characterized as a bedroom pop singer, I think she has surpassed this title with her debut album Rastenija bez koren (in English, "plant without a root"). I recommend the whole album, and for the introduction, the jazzy noir song 'Gradot,' about her city, Skopje.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Songhoy Blues - Gara

Finally, a dose of transcendental desert blues. Songhoy Blues is a Malian band that released its fourth album, Héritage, in January this year. The band was founded to preserve the tradition of Northern Malian music among migrants. When jihadists took power in northern Mali and enacted Sharia law, they banned, among other things, party music. They, therefore, sing in the Songhai language, with lyrics that traditionally comment on and observe everyday events in Malian society.

🎶That's all for today, and enjoy your weekend with new songs!
