Tame Impala - Loser

Tame Impala, or Kevin Parker, an Australian singer and multi-instrumentalist, released a new single a few days ago, Loser, announcing a new album, Deadbeat, which will be released at the end of October this year, after a five-year hiatus. Anyone who enjoys psychedelic power pop will undoubtedly be interested in the latest creation by this multi-award-winning musician, who knows how to conjure up complex environments in words and sounds.

🎡 🎧 🎡

Guedra Guedra - Drift of Drummer

Abdellah M. Hassak, known in the music world as Guedra Guedra, a Moroccan producer from Casablanca, presented his second studio album Mutant at the end of August on the Smugglers Way label. From traditional gnawa to electronica and bass techno, all in one product. Ancient tribal polyrhythms are brought to the dance floor, where rhythm and movement, Pan-Africanism, and Afrofuturism are reinterpreted in a new way. I must admit that he manages to intrigue. I recommend the whole album.

🎡 🎧 🎡

Nine Inch Nails - As Alive As You Need Me To Be

Nine Inch Nails, American industrial metal rockers who have been around since 1988, nominees and winners of numerous music awards, are now turning their attention to film music. Well, actually, Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross have created film music under their own names before, but now they are credited for the entire soundtrack for the movie TRON: Ares as Nine Inch Nails for the first time. The film is scheduled for release in October this year.

🎡 🎧 🎡

Pile - Uneasy

Pile is a band from Boston, USA. They formed in 2007 and have released nine albums to date, the latest being Sunshine and Balance Beams, released in August this year. As a band, they are highly regarded in the independent rock underground.
Post-hardcore, the search for dreamy ambiance, and a hint of old American folk are their guides in creativity and the pursuit of new sounds.
The song Uneasy is about the fear of losing balance in a personal or social sense.

🎡 🎧 🎡

MC Yallah & Debmaster - Higher

The song Higher from the album Gaudencia is the result of a collaboration between MC Yallah, a Kenyan-born Ugandan hip hop veteran, and French producer Debmaster, who works in Berlin.
The saturation of grime, trap, futuristic hip hop, and industrial, not a second of emptiness, every moment is used, either with vocals that flow like a bet in four languages, rapping in English and the languages Luganda, Luo, and Kiswahili, or with Debmaster's beat and synths that navigate through the vocal expression.

🎡 🎧 🎡

The Sorcerers - The Great Belt

The Sorcerers are a band from Leeds, UK, who have been creating music based on ethio jazz since 2018. Ethio jazz originated in the 1960s as a fusion of Western and Ethiopian music, based on Ethiopian pentatonic scales that sound tense and hypnotic, with repetitive rhythms enriched by the use of electric piano and organ. Because the recording is analog, it gives the music a warm, old-school feel.
In July, they released the album Other Worlds and Habitats, which includes the song The Great Belt, a live studio performance.

🎡 🎧 🎡

Obsidian Tongue - ... And Still They Dream...

Obsidian Tongue is a duo from Portland, USA. They have been active since 2010 and have released several EPs and five albums, the latest being Eclipsing Worlds Of Scorn, released at the end of May this year. They come from black metal and are increasingly moving towards progressive and melancholic psychedelia - a walk through a dark forest of complex guitar riffs, bass frequencies, and ambient passages.
The song '... And Still They Dream...' is completely guitar-driven and instrumental, perhaps representing a direction for the future?

🎡 🎧 🎡

Neil Young and the Chrome Hearts - Big Crime

Old, actually very old, rocker Neil Young can't change his ways. As an eternal and authentic protester from the 1960s, he has now taken action and is protesting against Trump's takeover of police control of Washington by the National Guard with his new band, The Chrome Hearts. I don't know the subject matter well enough to comment on it (nor am I particularly interested; it's a waste of time, we have more than enough of that kind of crap here already), but the song Big Crime is in the style of the honest Neil Young as I know him from my youth :)

🎢That's all for today, and enjoy your weekend with new songs!

An eclectic mix, the Obsidian Tongue was particularly interesting, melancholic was an apt descriptor.

Thank you, I'm glad you liked it. Yes, it's a mixture of everything that's been buzzing around in my head this week. I've just come back from a concert and now there are other new sounds for next week :)

Nine-inch nails in the roof beams ensure stability. The same applies to music. Here, you know what to expect!
With the Sorcerers, I swap my sunglasses for earplugs. I find it difficult to tolerate this electronic organ sound for long periods.
With Neil Young, it's always clear in advance: when he has something to say, he wraps it up in his typical harmonies, and it's always worth listening to anyway!
