New Tunes 30.8.2024

Hello, music lovers! 🎢

How's it going today? The heat is relentless here, but I'm handling it with a new #newtunes playlist featuring fresh tracks from well-known and lesser-known artists.
Maybe someone else will give the song selection a listen and get hooked for the weekend.

Most of them are guitars in different ways, but there's enough of everything else.
If you like music, you can spare a few minutes (or sacrifice a few minutes) to listen to some tunes you've never heard before. If you don't like it, feel free to skip :)

Coldplay - We Pray (ft. Little Simz, Burna Boy, Elyanna, TINI)

We'll start with the globally popular Coldplay, who announced their new album 'Moon Music,' after three years, which will be released on 4 October.
On the album, and especially in the song 'We Pray,' they collaborate with well-known musicians, combining different musical genres with a clear message that needs no explanation. You can also read the lyrics in the video if you are not sure :)

Crack Cloud - The Medium

Crack Cloud is a band and multimedia collective from Alberta, Canada. Their beginnings date back to 2016 when drummer and frontman Zach Choy assembled them. They have released three albums, the latest, Red Mile, at the end of July this year. I stumbled upon them while browsing, drawn to their melodic indie pop-punk, backed by cynical lyrics (or the other way around?), which change from track to track.
It's all heard before but well articulated.

🎡 🎧 🎡

Being Dead - Firefighters

Being Dead is a duo from Austin, Texas. In their six years on the music scene, they have released four albums, with a fifth, EELS, expected at the end of September.
The music draws on sixties guitar rock, the hippie movement's melodicism and colorfulness, and a dose of psychedelic and gallows humor in the lyrics while sounding fresh and current.

🎡 🎧 🎡

THE JUDGES - Guns (Video Clip)

An Australian band from Melbourne, they have one album to show for it so far, from November last year, with which they caught the attention of the music public with their raw rock'n'roll, and a 7" single, Guns, from June this year. Typical rock rebels against imperialism, wars, capitalism, significant labels, pop music, and more; they have now domesticated themselves on the music stages, continuing their path to stardom with plenty of guitars and riffs. Will they make it? Who knows...

🎡 🎧 🎡

Kairos Creature Club

Kairo Creature Club is a band from Jacksonville, Florida. The project was formed during the pandemic, and they have recorded three albums to date, the last one with the band's name this June. They have a DIY (Do It Yourself) approach to their music, and I was attracted to them because they use kaleidoscopes and similar analog gadgets on stage and a mixture of synth sounds, krautrock, and thrash pop to create a sound that is specific and unique to them.

🎡 🎧 🎡

Kim Gordon & model home - razzamatazz

Kim Gordon, a member of the legendary Sonic Youth, came back again this year after her excellent album The Collective to remind us that, although she is getting on in years, she can still push the boundaries of creating complex and avant-garde sounds and is not yet an old fart.
She released' razzamatazz' with the experimental New York duo 'model home' - a new electro single with a pulsating sub-bass and swirling sounds that float under her legendary whisper. She's not afraid to run out of ideas, but you can hear elements of her work with Sonic Youth in everything she does.

🎡 🎧 🎡

KOKOKO! - Bazo Banga

KOKOKO! comes from Kinshasa, the metropolis of Central Africa, the capital of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, also called the largest Francophone urban jungle; it is estimated that over 17 million people live in the wider city area (about 8,000.00 km2).
KOKOKO! Belong to the so-called congotronica, they started back in 2016 with improvised DIY electric instruments made from parts of car wrecks. In 2019, they released their debut album, Fongola, a hit in London, but the coronavirus ruined everything for them. But only for a few years. Their second album, BUTU (Night in English), is upon us, again thrusting them into the center of congotronica and Afrofuturism. It is unique, and I recommend the whole album.

🎡 🎧 🎡

Leprous - Like A Sunken Ship

Finally, some progressive metal for the end. After three years, Leprous, a Norwegian band, released a new album, Melodies of Atonement. It is a contemporary, melodic metal that will delight all genre fans. Maybe you will, too.

🎢That's all for today, and enjoy your weekend with new songs!
