Jeff Tweedy - Lou Reed Was My Babysitter

Jeff Tweedy is an American musician, songwriter, and producer. He is best known to the music public as the frontman of the alternative country and rock band Wilco, with whom he has been playing since 1995. He has released five solo albums, the latest (a triple album with 30 songs) entitled Triple Override, just today. The song caught my attention because of its title.
Lou Reed wasn't my babysitter, but he was one of the first musicians I started listening to very early on, right after elementary school :)

🎵 🎧 🎵

JMSN - Dirty Dog

JMSN, whose real name is Christian Berishaj, is an American musician, multi-instrumentalist, and producer from Detroit, USA. He has released eight albums to date, the latest being Soft Spot, which was released two years ago.
He is a new name to me, appearing on my Twitter feed a few days ago, and this song, Dirty Dog, is his latest single. I'm not sure if it heralds a new album, but his unique blend of jazzy soul and hip-hop intrigued me, and I will follow him further.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Bakalina Velika - Arlica

Bakalina Velika is a Slovenian alternative ethno, folk, and rock band featuring several exceptional musicians. I mentioned them a couple of years ago when they released their second album.
Their third and latest album, Use Kar Sije (Everything that shines), was released three weeks ago. The songs explore the local environment, nature, and history, conveying universal and optimistic messages of tolerance towards both living and non-living beings.
The song "Arlica," sung in the Čadrež dialect, tells a story about a young eagle and water.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Lucrecia Dalt - no death no danger

Lucrecia Dalt, or María Lucrecia Pérez López, is a musician and composer of Colombian descent who has been living in Berlin, Germany, for the past few years. She has been creating music since 2012 and has released 14 albums, the latest of which, A Danger to Ourselves, came out in early September this year.
Her work focuses on conceptual electroacoustics, with a strong influence from samplers, minimalist song structures, drums and bass, and her ethereal vocals in recent years.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Maruja - Bloodsport

Maruja is a band from Manchester, UK, that has been creating music for about a decade. They have released several singles and EPs, and two weeks ago, their debut album, Pain to Power.
Post-punk guitar improvisations are mixed with free jazz saxophone and hip-hop vocals, accompanied by rhythmic bass and percussion at high speeds.
The song Bloodsport is the opening track on the new album.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Shame - Quiet Life

Shame is a band from London, UK, which has been on the music scene since 2014. They have released four albums, the latest being Cutthroat, which was released three weeks ago.
Music critics rank them among the new wave of British post-punk, such as Black Midi, Fontaines D.C., and Idles. However, they are not as well-known as the bands mentioned above.
But the song "Quiet Life" is distinctly guitar-driven, featuring melodic vocals and being very catchy. Poppish? They may succeed now. Who knows.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Hesse Kassel - Vida En Terranova

Hesse Kassel hails from Santiago, Chile. They have been creating music since 2022, and their debut album, La Brea, was released in March this year. Hesse Kassel plays avant-garde art, math, and post-rock, characterized by rapid rhythm changes and the incorporation of diverse genres. Their music is multi-layered and dynamic, rich and compact, yet at times light and dreamy.
This band is new to me, and I will be following them closely.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Stoned Jesus - Shadowland

Stoned Jesus is a Ukrainian trio from Kyiv that has been playing since 2009. They have released several EPs and eight albums, the latest being "Songs To Sun," which was released last week. They are continuing on the path they set out on at the beginning. They are planning two more albums in the near future.
The song "Shadowland" is the shortest on the new album, featuring standard guitar-driven stoner/doom metal rock with melodic riffs and solid rhythms.

🎶That's all for today, and enjoy your weekend with new songs!

Some great ones in this post!

Here's a little known artist that I found recently:

Good one! I'm sure the song would be better known if it didn't have such a long intro. 😎

What do Jeff Tweedy and Lucrecia Dalt have in common? One of them suddenly sounds like his babysitter Lou Reed and with Lucrecia I have the feeling that Reed's wife, Laurie Anderson, is trying to tell me a story. I find both artists very exciting.
I have to take much more time for JMSN. Because he deserves it.
I already have the problem of always understanding my Slovenian neighbours correctly. Now they're also coming round the corner with this dialect .... Why do they remind me of Lačni Franz?
When I hear the texts from the British Isles, I have to assume that dissatisfaction seems to be growing steadily.
Še enkrat odlična izbira!

They are all excellent artists, but what they have in common, in my opinion, is that they are underrated...
Yes, this 'čadrsko' dialect is very specific; it comes from the Tolmin area, near the Italian border, and on the other side is Rezija, where they speak similarly.
However, a more challenging dialect is Čičarijsko, spoken in the Podgrad area and extending into Istria. My wife is from there, and when she talks to her mother, I can hardly understand anything...

I believe that dialects are a valuable part of a national language, as they enrich it greatly. However, it is important to bear in mind when conversing with others that not everyone can understand every dialect. Dalmatians seem to ignore this completely, celebrating their dialect wherever they go – and they can be found almost everywhere.
