Paul Weller - Where There’s Smoke, There’s Fire

I have mentioned Paul Weller, British musician and songwriter, active in the music scene since 1972, several times in #newtunes, either as a musician in the punk-mod band The Jam or in the soul-influenced The Style Council until 1989, and then as an artist with six albums and an OBE (Order of the British Empire).
The song Where There’s Smoke, There’s Fire, from his latest album Find El Dorado, released in July 2025, is about love that can burn you, with a groovy, soulful, and rock vibe.

Puscifer - Self Evident

Puscifer is an experimental rock band formed in 1995, led by musician Maynard Keen, who is perhaps better known as the singer of Tool and A Perfect Circle. Since their inception, they have been genre-defying, mixing industrial rock, electronica, psychedelia, goth, and punk with sharp social commentary, absurd humor, and dark aesthetics.
They have released six albums to date. The song 'Self Evident' is a preview of their new album Normal Isn't, which will be released in February 2026.
Dark goth-punk with sharp guitar riffs and minimalist bass lines, male-female vocals, and sarcastic criticism of bungholes (unsympathetic people who persist) in society.

Psychedelic Porn Crumpets - The Real Contra Band

Psychedelic Porn Crumpets (or PPC) are an Australian psychedelic rock band formed in Perth in 2014. Their sound is a chaotic mix of psychedelic rock, garage punk, prog rock, and heavy riffs - full of energy, color, and improvisation.
They have released five albums. The song 'The Real Contra Band' introduces their latest album, Pogo Rodeo, officially released yesterday.
A critique of everyday apathy, a rhythmic beat where psychedelia is used as an escape from the old self. The song's visualization is a real feast for the eyes, if you can handle that much color and flash.

Senseless Things - Homophobic Asshole

Senseless Things were a British pop-punk band formed in 1986 in London (Twickenham). They were part of the vibrant indie-punk scene of the late 80s and early 90s, mixing fast punk rhythms with melodic bubblegum pop. Youthful and direct, often with a sharp social edge. They released four studio albums, the last one in 1995.
The song 'Homophobic Asshole' is a punk song against prejudice and is not their latest song – it was first released as the first single from the album Empire of the Senseless in 1993. Fast punk, with lyrics full of British slang and punk irony.
It was recently re-released and remastered, probably as part of the band's revival, and recommended for fans of the genre.

BIG SPECIAL - PLAINTIVE NATIVE

I have mentioned Big Special several times this year, mainly because of their album National Average, released in July, and very well received by music critics and listeners.
The song 'Plaintive Native' is a standalone single released by the duo a week ago. It explores political unrest that turns moral conviction into apathy, drawing on elements of working-class blues and post-punk.

🎵 🎧 🎵

EMF - Bela Lugosi's Dead

Epsilon Minus Faith, or EMF, is a British alternative dance rock band from Cinderford, formed in 1989. They were best known in the early 1990s for their punk-house dance sound and hedonistic humor, with several of their songs topping the charts. They disbanded in 1995 and reunited in 2022. They have released four albums, the latest being Go Go Sapiens last year.
Bela Lugosi's Dead is a cover of the 1979 cult band Bauhaus' song, shortened from 9 to 4 minutes and featuring added rave beats, dub, and dance-rock elements. A contemporary minimalist dystopian filter suitable for Halloween.

🎵 🎧 🎵

AI is becoming an increasingly important player in the music industry in all possible ways. Bands use it to visualize their videos, for entirely different purposes, from artificial bands to genre generalizations, or for a complete mix of everything possible. I occasionally mention such creations in #newtunes posts.
Of the approximately 250,000 new tracks published daily on streaming platforms, 3-5% are already artificial. However we look at it or dismiss it, there is interest in this form of music among listeners - and, most likely, also among record labels - so the trend is that there will be more and more of it.
Today, I have two tracks that caught my attention because they push the boundaries of listenability into entirely new areas.

Star Trek - The Vietnam Generation

The video and song are a kind of parody by Dreamloop Cinema, mixing Star Trek and the Vietnam War, and, in my opinion, a practical example of the use of various AI technologies currently available, which, like all other technologies, require experimentation and knowledge.
You can judge for yourself whether he succeeded. As someone mentioned, it goes where no PTSD has gone before.

🎵 🎧 🎵

Starlight Drive - Indigo Daze

Starlight Drive is a project by the author, VoxSoundD, actually the YT music channel. I don't know who else was involved. It focuses on content where lyrics, style, genre, and themes are combined with AI tools for generating music. It emphasizes in advance that this is a fictional band, not a real one, and explores the boundaries between the human and the artificial.
As the disclaimer says:

This project is a compilation of both AI tools and Human Creativity. It's not intended to represent a real band. The musical lyrics, style, genre, layout, and themes are all written by a human and then fed to an AI to generate the music.
This is a passion project only and should be treated as such.

🎶 That should be all for today, thanks for your attention, and enjoy your weekend with new songs!
