Hive Music Festival Week 32 Round 2. El frutero - Cruz Felipe Iriarte (cover mandolina)[ENG-ESP]

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

Hello, Hive Music Festival community! I greet you in week 32 round number 2. Today I bring you "El frutero" - Cruz Felipe Iriarte. A very emblematic and popular Venezuelan merengue among instrumentalists. I hope you like it.

This merengue is very tasty and is one of those that we learn as children, it's amazing all that I have been able to retake thanks to HIVE, beautiful songs like this that were simply kept in a folder, when in fact they deserve to be heard at any time and place. For this second round of the Hive Music Festival I made the effort to go home and record exclusively for it. It took me a while, yes, but it's worth all the effort.

El frutero is a catchy song, it even provokes to dance and I don't know how to dance hahahaha. It has some complexities, at least very noticeable when we start on the instrument. A quick fragment in the second part is the most notable. I listened to it a lot before recording it and I like to remember with sweetness all that time I was in the estudiantina of my school playing this song, it was there where I learned it.

I studied at the Escuela de Folclore Benito Galarraga, in Valencia Edo. Carabobo, I started with my teacher Clara Milagros Diaz who made me love the mandolin as I do today and although I have not seen her for years I am very fond of her. There I began to learn songs until I finally joined the estudiantina, almost a dream come true. I was just a little kid playing with the adults, at that time my feet did not reach the floor hahahaha; among the many songs we played, like many of the ones I have already brought to the HIVE community is the fruit bowl. Thanks to this estudiantina I improved as a musician and developed as a person for many years, being there until the completion of my studies in school.

Did you know that there is Venezuelan merengue at 2 and 5? I know, it sounds strange, but do a little research, because this song is in 5/8, that is to say 5 beats of eighth note in each measure. It is rare, very rare, in fact in very few parts of the world there are native rhythms with these characteristics, here is another peculiarity of the frutero. It is such a rich and varied song, in case there is something missing, it is very well known. I felt a lot of euphoria when recording this song, I got excited and I set out to do it, I put all my concentration until I reached what I show you today. A beautiful song that shines for its rhythmic, catchy and danceable, a wonderful song that shows us the genius that exists in our Venezuelan music.

I hope you like it! A big hug!

Chamo, felicidades. Excelente profesora y amiga.

Saludos hermano y colega @sebas.mandolin

Bro!

Saludos brother and colleague @sebas.mandolin

Bro, we should record this one someday hahahahahahahahahahahah, great Venezuelan classic, the great Frutero! It's already customary to hear the great skill you have with the mandolin, you make everything look like it's as easy as buttering a loaf of bread.

I don't like that 2/4 merengue! hahahahahaha sounds gocho! Meringue is 5/8 tasty! There is no argument hehehehehehe.

A fraternal embrace, blessings from heaven to you!

Hermanazo!

English

A big hug, big brother!
