50 year career for a music band is quite something! But I have never heard of them :)
The logistics is frequently a weak spot for many organizations, clearly you unfortunately had to experience one of those epic "F***ups" it is a good thing they are retiring or it could have negatively impacted their further careers...

No surprise.
The organisation is normally pretty good here for most things - even government administration (comparatively), but I think that all over the world (as discussed in another comment) it is degrading. The AI overlords are doing their job.
