En Hive - que yo recuerde - he interpretado - en el transcurso del tiempo - tres canciones de Camilo Sesto: "Piel de Ángel", "Melina" y "Quieres ser mi amante", está semana traigo también un tema de él, pero esta vez es "Morir de Amor".

Forma parte de todo aquel cúmulo de canciones que se pusieron de moda, a partir de 1964, en la década de los 70 y 80, una tras otra. Más de cuarenta producciones discográficas y sus ventas totales estimadas en más de 2,5 millones de copias en todo el mundo nos dicen cuan fuerte fue el impacto artístico de su voz y su imagen.

Camilo Sesto fue un compositor prolífico de hermosas canciones. románticas, unas de amor, otras de desamor. Canciones cuya melodía en algún momento llevaba notas agudas que hacían brillar el alcance de su voz. Letras tiernas o apasionadas, melodías "pegajosas" que se escuchaban y provocaba volverlas a escuchar una y otra vez. Aparte de ser bastante buen mozo - todo un "galán" -. Detalles todos que se conjugaron para llevar al tope su carrera artística.

Y no sólo interpretó sus propias canciones sino que compuso temas también para vocalistas de la talla de como Miguel Bosé, Ángela Carrasco, Lani Hall, José José, Lucía Méndez y otros.

La canción que les traigo hoy manifiesta la mala fortuna del que "se enamora solo" de forma reiterada hasta que "ya no puede más" y exasperado clama "vivir así es morir de amor" y esa paradójica frase en que dos opuestos - vida y muerte - se manifiestan como coexistiendo o siendo el uno a la vez el otro luego es explicado ya al final con un "soy mendigo de tus besos, soy tu amigo... quiero ser algo más que eso"

Esta canción va dedicada a los que alguna vez sintieron que en su corazón el aprecio característico de la amistad cambiaba y se transformaba en amor no correspondido y también - y sobre todo - a los que ahora mismo están viviendo está situación que hará que él 14 de febrero - día del amor y la amistad - se vean obligados a permanecer como amigos cuando sus sentimientos desearían algo distinto.
